26 nosler 147 eld ?

I'm doing some loading for a buddy. 26 nosler factory Browning hells canyon rifle. I've got rl33, h1000, retumbo, rl25 on hand. Hornady brass. I've got some 147 eld, 142 smk, 123 nosler custom comp, 139 scenes. Anybody with any experience want to point me in the direction of a good load. I would like to run the 147s in it but have heard about bad fouling, but don't know if that's necessarily true or not. Those or the 142s would.be good if they'll work or even the scenars. Open to any advice. Thanks guys. Also I could probably aquire some us 869 if I needed.to.

I got a fierce edge with a 26" barrel and got 3200 FPS with a 143 gr ELDX 85 grains of US869 @ 3.40". It's not a super fast load but a very accurate one around 1/2" @ 200. I only have 34 rds on the barrel so it will speed up and tighten a little more as the count goes up. Massive damage on wild sheep at 413 yds shot by my son.

Is this a 1:7" twist barrel? If so, that is crying for the 156 Berger Elite or 153.3 Berger Hybrid LR. Maybe even the 150 or 160 Matrix VLD, or 150 SMK.
Big case, fast twist..... go heavy and wring out the performance. RL33, RL26, N565, N570, Retumbo, H1000, IMR8133.

I believe they are 1/8 twist from the factory. I agree with you though if I was having one built I would set up for the heaviest stuff I could.

I had a lot of issues with the 147 in my 26 nosler. Going to fast i assume. See helical lead spray on holes. I am about 350 rounds into current barrel and have found all copper bullets to be the best consistency, jacketed bullets never did well. 140 sierras did well, but only when MV was reduced to around 3050fps which really defeats the whole purpose of the 26 nosler. You will have to chase lands early. This cartridge eats the throat. Cool barrel often when shooting. Hornady OAL measurements have increased 0.040-0.045" over 350 rounds. Find a load it likes, baby it and you will be good for many seasons.

127 LRX over retumbo with fed 215s has been the best for me (~3450fps). I did have some ignition issues with CCI 250s, so recommend staying away from those. Tried RL 33, US869 and retumbo. AVG groups around 0.6MOA. So far a moose and mule deer have been taken with it, both around 700 yds. As of now i'm shooting 10-20 or so rounds a year. I love the rifle. Its a rebarreled savage around 11 pounds with everything. Kicks about like a sporter weight 308.

The eld line of bullets have pretty thin jackets. A lot of guys experience blow ups when pushed fast in fast twist barrels. Personally I'd stick to 156 bergers, and 160 matrix, with H50bmg, N570 RL33 you should be over 3200 fps and not stressing brass at all. 26 nosler is about as overbore as they come. Pick slow powders and heavy for cal bullets. You'll get the most barrel life in this manner.

I found the 26N hard on cup and core bullets. I shot a pile of different bullets and got ok accuracy, but the copper mono's were more consistent. 127lrx/rl33 combo works well for me, same with the 121flatline as a plinking load. That 121 at just under 3600 does very well at long range for me.

US869 gave me the highest velocities with every bullet I tried, but RL33 seemed to give tigher groups with most bullets.
