I just got a 257 Weatherby and a lifetime supply of IMR 4350 and 110 accubonds I was wondering if someone has had some luck with these powders and components. If possible I would like to stick with this powder I have 28 pounds of it that came with the gun. I have worked up loads from 59.0 to 64.0 with limited luck

Great buy! Did you ask the seller for his/her loading info? I don't have one, but several friends do and the .257 was Roy's fave Wby speed demon. If I didn't have a couple 25-06s and 264 Wins, I'd have bought one yrs ago. If you bought the 110s and can't get the groups you want, try 117 and 120gr bullets. rate of twist might be causing the 110 issues.

Sadly no the previous owner passed away after breaking it in so I have no data but he shot clover leaf pattern with it and want to come close to that

IMR 4350 is really too fast for high speed loads. I use Retumbo in mine for best velocity. If you're okay leaving a lot of velocity on the table, just use a chrono and load to known 25-06 nodes, see how it shoots.

IMR 4350 worked well in mine when I was using 100 grain Barnes TTSX, but I have mostly used RL 22 and 7828 over the years. Try adjusting your seating depth, you should be able to get it to shoot even if it isn’t the fastest.

See if he used a non Saami seating depth. I load my 110 AB s looonnng and that cut my group size in half.

Remember the 257 WB has .375 freebore if it’s a factory chamber. Just so you have it for reference my OAL is 3.425.

Good luck

OK, Sell the 4350, it's too fast for 257. You won't have a problem getting rid of it. Then get Retumbo, or H1000, or US 869. You won't be happier.

Case fill and velocity will all be higher with the mentioned lower burning range of powders but for years many 257 WB owners relied on a 4350 variant. With the amount you have try it, you may be pleasantly surprised accuracy wise and provided you re comfortable with a 100-150 FPS velocity loss you could live happily ever after. Or at least til you burn that Bad Boys barrel up !
