One of the old classic cartridges. I was having the new rifle bug but decided to reach in the back of the locker and pull out a rifle I hadn't played with in a long time. It's a Ruger 77 MKII in .257 Roberts. Set it up on a new Boyd's stock a Basix trigger and mounted a Mueller 4.5x14-44 scope on it and started working up some loads for it.

Had a little bit of brass on hand but sure having a hard time finding new brass I can afford. Since the parent case is the 7x57 even that is tough to find. But I do have a lot of 6mm Rem on hand and that works in a pinch. Working loads now with Rel 15, Varget and IMR4064 with 90g Sierra HPBT bullets.

I am retired on a tight budget and so far this is all just for fun.

I also am retired. My Roberts is built on a Savage 110 action, a Savage take-off barrel, a SSS trigger and a 3X9 Nikon scope. I built this rifle for nostalgia sake and have never been sorry. The first animal I took with it was a 285lb Red Deer. With a 100gr Sierra SBT DRT!
As you go through load development I suggest that you pay close attention to Varget just short of max.
GOOD LUCK and GOOD SHOOTING!!!
