25 cal build

My fast twist 257 WTBY is at the smith now being put together. I went 1:7 Rock creek C/F barrel. Id love to get the big hammers to group well in it, only time will tell.

Lance, What twist are you using for the 120 to 135 grain 257 and what cartridge? I am in the same boat as the OP. 300 WBY Mark 5 action and am considering the 257 WBY.

My 25SST is a 1:7.5". It was built originally to run the 131 BJ Ace. It shoots tiny groups with them, and they are wicked on game. But...unavailable.

The 135 LR Hyb shoots very well out of it so far, but I need to play with seating depth a touch. 100 yds, 3 shots.

The 121 Hammer Hunter will shoot 10 into a sub 1/2 MOA @ 3414fps. This is 200 yards with them.

I've got a donor action from a 300 weatherby I'm wanting to build a rifle on. I'm thinking I may want something in 25 caliber and have been looking at the 25 PRC or 25-284. I would probably run 127 grain hammers or 131 grain blackjacks. Is my weatherby action too much action for this chambering? I'm not opposed to buying another action. Are there any other quarter bore hot rods I should be considering? Oh, I'll mainly be using this rifle on Texas deer and varmints. Might try it on antelope if I ever draw a tag.
I built a 25-300. It's an awesome round. I have to load it down and keep it around 3500fps but it's a shooter.

What bullets are your shooting and what twist is your barrel? Did you have custom dies made?
Yes I have custom dies from Hornady. I shoot either 115 gr Berger's or 120gr barns out of it. I can't remember the twist off the top of my head but I'll look when I get home and let you know

For me, I think that the 257 WBY will fill the void with the 130s bullets. My 223 73. Gr. My 7 saum 180, my 300 wm. 200gr. My 260 156 gr. And my 17 Rem. 30 gr.

I'd go the 257 weatherby too…I really liked the idea of the 25/7mm blaser —but with all the components unavailable and all the crap that has been going on since China Joe's been in office. I'll stick to something I can get my hands on a bit easier
