Looking for a load in my 25-06 with the Berger 115 VLD Hunting. I have been shooting the 100 Grn Nosler BT for years with great success however planning a spring bear hunt, want to use this rifle and looking for something a little heavier/tougher. Oddly at 500 or less the drop on the 100 Grn BT looks ever so slightly better. Also considering the Swift Sirocco 100 Grn. Thoughts and yes a load recommendation appreciated, I already ordered the Berger's.

Its a 27 inch Shilen medium contour fluted, not certain of twist.

my son in law loads the 115 berger with I-4350. are you hunting bears in az?? i would use a 115 partition.

Any starting load data? Yes AZ, I have pleanty of big calibers and have used as lite as a 243 in the past but looking for those cross canyon shots want to use the 25-06, its got Elk, Mulies, Couse, Javalina, Desert sheep and multiple dogs under its belt.

Last time I shot them in my .25-06 was back in 2005-06. They were fairly accurate but I wanted to try other bullets, so never bought any more.
My powder was RL22, primer used was the Remington 9.5M and OAL for my Sendero was 2.7730", as measured from the ogive.
I didn't push them hard but velocity and accuracy at 51.0gn was 3044fps and .390" (both averages for 3-shot groups at 100yds). JohnnyK.

I use the 115gr VLD pushed by 47.7 gr of H4350 out of my Sendero (26"). Velocity is 2950 and according to Berger data is a light load.

the load he uses only gets 2950 out of a 26 inch sendero. i think 48.5 or so. what part of az are you hunting the bears?? one thing for sure on coyotes the 25-06 is not a one of those fur friendly whussy 17 specials

Thanks guys, I am thinking more and more of sticking with what I have. Getting 3520 with IMR 4831 with the 100 grn BT, no signs of pressure. The longer tube helps. Have the Bergers on the way so will try anyhow.

I have pretty close to the same set up, 27" shilen 4 contour on a 700. I do not have my data handy but I tried H-1000 and Retumbo. Both powders were very accurate with the 115 gr Berger with the Retumbo giving around 50 fps more velocity. My max loads were 59.5 grs with the 1000 and 60 grs with the retumbo, thats all i could cram in there and I had no pressure signs IN MY RIFLE. Incidentally I use the 100 gr NBT as well and have been more than pleased with results obtained with Rl-17, scary accurate and very fast. Might be something to try out if you get bored sometime. Good luck.

Load data was generated using Quick Load a 26 inch barrel a COAL (cartridge over all length) of 3.250 inches and your COAL and velocity could be a little different.
AS WITH ALL RELOADING APPROACH THE MAXIMUM LOADS WITH CAUTION AS ALL RIFLES AND RELOADING TECHNIQUES WILL BE DIFFERENT. If YOU CHANGE ANY OF YOUR COMPONENTS; THIS INCLUDES DIFFERENT POWDER LOT NUMBERS; YOU MUST REFIGURE YOUR LOADS BY STARTING WITH THE MINIMUM LOAD.
