Hi Guys

My newly 25" barrelled 25 06 shoots 117gr prohunters with a three shot ave of 3244 fps. Max book load with AR 2217 powder and not showing pressure signs that I can see. The ave three shot group before that one was just under 3200fps with the same load, maybe fowling pushed the pressure and velocity up slightly?
Federal factory 117gr loads ave 2909 fps so I am thinking my new chrony is accurate.
What sort of velocities are you guys getting with 117gr projectiles in a 25 06.

I have a 24" 3-groove benchmark barrel that's shooting 3225 with 117gr sierra , using rl-19 and a rl-22 load that sends berger 115gr at 3291. only shot out to 500 but seems to match trajectory charts. I have been wondering also about these speeds?

Production rifles don't come with SAAMI min spec chambers, and the barrels aren't min bore & groove specs. The pressure barrels used for testing in manuals are, so don't expect to match velocities.
From work in the Creedmoor and a Pressure Trace this past Christmas, to gain an extra 50-75fps, you have to add 10,000 psi extra.

I have never shot any of the 117gr bullets but my 25-06 shoots the 115 berger at 3270 using if I remember correctly 54.5gr H4831sc according to my magneto speed.

Those speeds sound about right to me. I shoot a 25-06AI with 115 Bergers at 3350 fps. Have pushed it harder but the brass starts to suffer. I use H1000 in mine.

I shoot 117 Sierra Pro Hunters with 49 grs IMR 4350, CCI 250, Rem case from a 26" Shilen barrel and it does 3000 fps. I could get more velocity with different powders and have not tried some of the newer slower burning powders. I have always been a "if it ain't broke don't try to fix it" person. Over the past 20 years I have not found a deer I wanted to kill that I have not with one shot using this load. It is a BUG HOLE accurate load that I know and trust. I have killed in excess of 200 deer with this rifle and load and 99% drop in their tracks and those that don't usually don't go over 50 yards. Over the years I have learned that high velocity is nice but accuracy kills. :D

All of the speeds listed are higher then I got in my 257 wby, 115 VLD with H1000, I was getting 3230, but it didn't seem to be a smoker barrel, the TTSX @3500 and 110 accubond @ 3400 were average velocities, quite a bit slower than I had seen others post.

25-06AI is pretty impressive. Your 257 Should out run a AI by a little though. Could be a slow barrel like you said. I thought I was the only guy who ever got the slow barrels:D

Depends on the Roy barrel length. The roys really need a longer barrel. At 24 inch barrel the ai should match speeds 26 real close 28 is where the Roy shines

Guess my barrel isn't Magic either. It's a 24" Browning factory tube and I don't top 3100 FPS with a 115 Berger and 52 Gr of IMR 4831.
