25-06 Harvest Thread

I have a Tikka T3X in stainless and a Sig SHR 970. Both are nice shooting guns. Still working on the best load for the Tikka. Certainly sub-moa, but chasing better.

Not sure why you can't find one. Do you mean locally? Gunbroker has 343 of them at this moment. Just depends on your budget and if you have a "must have" favorite brand. Not trying to be rude here, but seems like if you want a 25-06 you can find one on‐line.

Yeah, I was talking about locally. I prefer to buy local if possible, but this is one I don't think I'll be able to do that with.

3 goats all the same day. All with the same rifle for 210 to 347 yards. Ruger 25-06 with 117 Sierra handloads.

I've owned three different 25-06'. A Rem 700 sendero sf I saved up all summer when I was 15 and had my dad pick it up for me. I also had a tang safety Ruger heavy barrel and have a Savage 112 heavy stainless fluted I picked up on here about 7 years ago. The Remington was pretty dang accurate and I took my first good buck with it. Ended up trading it for a brand new model 70 sported in 264 win. The Ruger was like every other Ruger I've owned. Best groups it would shoot were about 1.25-1.5 inches no matter what loads I threw at it.
The Savage I picked up here had a cheap factory plastic stock. I replace it with a Boyd's tactical and pillar bedded it. If is one of the most accurate rifles I've ever owned. It will shoot anything from 75 grains-115 grains 1/2MOA or better. It's not fussy about powders it just shoots. I have taken lots of animals with it including a pile of Midwest white tails. The 25 is a deer hammer. I shoot 115 Berger's at 3260fps for deer.
If it wasn't so heavy I'd use it more for deer hunting. But man it's a hammer

Built a lefty 25-06 many years ago. Son and daughter took many antelope, a nice bull, mule deer, whitetails and a mountain goat with it. 115 combined technologies ballistic tip did them all in. Great round.

Hi Lads
Just found this thread using the search function and enjoyed reading it.

Just had a new barrel chambered in 25-06 on my Borden action. We do not have the choice of powders you guys have as a lot have been banned by EU as being carcinogenic. I have N160, N165 and Ramshot Magnum. Got a box of the Hornady 110 ELD-X bullets to try.

I have always loved the .25. I have a hankering for a weatherby in the future sometime.

Some great pics guys, thank you.

Not sure if you went with a fast twist. But if you did and can get them in the EU look into the 131 blackjacks. Liking them in my 25-284 so far. R26 has them going 3150 FPS right now.

I have a 25-06 built on a M70 Pre'64 action. 3200fps with Nos 110 AB. My go to for medium game. I bump up to its twin chambered in 7mm Rem Mag for elk and up. Love 'em both

Hi Beeman.
Just got the standard ten twist i'm afraid.

I have read about the 131 blackjacks being loaded in the fast twist .25 creedmoor and i like what i see.

You still have plenty of options. I don't have personal experience with the 110 accubond (I'm sure it's great) but my Cooper shoots the 115 Nosler Ballistic tips, the 117 Sierra Gamekings and the 115 Berger Hybrid all .5 MOA. Try the 90 grain Blitzking for Varminting. My go to powder is IMR-4831 for heavies, RL-19 or 22 for the lighter stuff.

I posted a picture of Cassandra back in June with her 2018 buck but this Year she killed this big black bear with the 25/06. She was shooting the 115 Berger!I thought it did a great job hitting a rib then totally destroy the spine.
