Each rifle, bullet, powder combination can be very different. The main thing is we both found loads that work for us. I all so have a third 35 Whelen, it is a H & R , I think it is same as yours. Grate little rifle. The only load I have shot in it so far is Speer 220gr. with RL-15, shoots it very accurate.

Varget in the Whelen has been outstanding using 225 grain Accubonds and Partitions 58-59 grains is a nice cloverleaf and just at 2800 fps.
