Hi people.
Has anyone tried the Berger 245 grain bullet in a 300 Win Mag?
If they have, I'd be interested to know the results, and recipe used, please.
I'm in the UK, shoot with a 1 in 8 twist Remington Sendero, and mainly use Alliant RL26 powder, or Vihtavuori N565 or N570 powder.

I'm not sure the win mag have the poop to get the 245 fast enough to make it a better option than others in a lighter weight class. But with that said the 1:8 twist and powders you have chosen, you have a good start. I am interested in your results I would like to try the 245 as well.

It works fine with the 230 OTM's. We shall see.

I shoot 230s at 2900 with a 26.5 bbl with rl26.
I think throating to lenghting/add volume is a good idea.
I am at 3.5" with sie 220 mk, and 3.6" with the 230's
repeatable hits at just over a mile and shoot out to 2000 yards.

Excellent. đź‘Ś
I'm intrigued to see what the 245's can do.

Do you find the 230's shoot better than the 220's?

yes
in the usa, mil is stuck with usa made components.
the mil 300 win mag sniper round is a 220 mk, fed brass, nickle primer h1000 powder. it shoots well in a 220 spec chamber.
mk13 chamber,( 3.5 oal vs 3.34 ) lilja bbl
I did that then built the 230 with rl26. more velocity less pressure great accuracy
I have a clone of the mk mk13 sniper rifle.

Any updates on the 245's?
Just got 100 and going to try them looks like I can get AOL 3.773.
I'm shooting 215's @ 3050 with H1000, not sure it'll push the 245's fast enough but it'll be worth a try.....

In a 300 RUM I am getting 2785 or so with 83.5 gr N570/ADG and a 27" tube. I have inconsistently got descent groups higher, but could not get it to repeat. I am going to give it one more go and see, but I don't think even this RUM has enough to get these going to outperform the lighter ones.

3050 with a Winmag is smoking those 215s. What cases you using?

I'm using gunwerks brass, custom reamer in a proof barrel. I set it up to shoot the 215's and it good at what it does.
just wanted to play with the 245's but they would have to perform amazingly to switch over.

245s out of a rum should be nearing 3000 FPS
