I have a Savage Model 11, 243 and I'm looking for a recipe for a Berger 95gr VLD. Barrel twist 9.25. Use will be for southeast whitetail bean field shooting. Hoping for 500 yds??

Thanks

Try 44.0g of IMR7828. That works in my Savage.

FWIW, I don't consider the ,243 to be a good 500 yard deer rifle. .260, .270, .308, .30-06 and up are better choices for that distance.

I know it's not a Berger, but I shoot a 95 grain Hornady SST out of my .243 on top of 42.0 grains of RL-17 and a CCI 200 primer. I'm getting a solid 3140 fps with no excess pressure.

I had a hard time finding the receipe for this bullet but very happy now. H-4831 Sc 47 grains fed lr m primer. Factory barrel rem 700 vel. around 3020 1/2 moa and under. Last night i was shooting at 1075 yards with this gun while the edge was cooling down. I cant help you as far as how bullet performs on game though.

Thanks for the info guys. I have a 7 mag for the long range work, just interested to see how far I could reach out with the 243. The computer numbers look good if the velocities are 3000 feet or better. The berger has the energy out to 500yds.....just depends on how accurate it will shoot them. How far off the lands are you loading???
