243 win. 105gr A-max H4350 "advice"

Re: 243 win. 105gr A-max H4350

I am running 1:8 shilen 24", lapua brass, cci lg rifle 200 primers. i have some loaded 39-41gr in .5 gr increments, just touching the lands.

Re: 243 win. 105gr A-max H4350

Just finished a load with the 105 Hybrids, 45.4 of N165 gave me 2926 fps, SD of 8 out of 24" 9.125 twist.

Re: 243 win. 105gr A-max H4350

Retumbo at 48.5 grains gave me more than 100 fps advantage over 4831 or 4350... I get 3000 fps from a 24" Douglas barrel.

Not what you asked... just sayin' :)

You're going to be somewhere in the 2800's with the 4350 before having the pressures too high, I'd say.

try H1000 as well as Retumbo. H414 always worked very well for me in similar cases

Re: 243 win. 105gr A-max H4350

I AM NEW TO RELOADING SO ALL INPUT AND SUGGESTIONS ARE WELCOME!
Thanks, that all helps gives me more powders to look into if i am not getting the velocities i want.
Not able to get to my chronograph till Sat. so velocities and SD were not available at the moment to even see if im getting the speed i want. It was rainy and 44 degrees today but i had time and had to go ahead and shoot and get a ball park idea of what this rifle would do, as i did the break in w/ 115gr dtac corbon factory loads all groups 1-2"
where I am now. Lapua brass(from the corbons), cci 200 primers, H4350, 105gr A-max, all loads just touching the lands. COAL 2.804
Shot 5 4shot groups(20rnds) cleaning and letting cool between charge increments.
Heres the groups, i will list 4 shot groups and omit a "flyer" for best 3 shot group.(no pressure signs at all brass and primers are great)

charge 39.0gr: (4).936 (3).657
39.5 : (4)1.062 (3).522
40.0 : (4)1.422 (3).987
40.5 : (4).936 (3).307
41.0 : (4).657 (3).437
I am hoping when i shoot thru the chrony Sat. my velocities @ 40.5 and 41 will be at least in the 2900's. and deviation is close. i guess accuracy before speed though.

just wondering where to go from here back off the lands at 40.5? shoot more groups w/ 40.5 and 41 to get a more consistent idea of which one to work with, also what increments are recommended when backing off the lands?

In a Nut Shell what im trying to say is for the experienced reloaders out there, where to go from here what to try next if this was your rifle.

+1
I was getting 2890 with my 4350 38 gr. Load. Switched to retumbo at 49gr. And am getting 3100 with the same group size.

Got what I was hoping for!

105gr A-max
Lapua Brass
CCI 200
40.5 gr H4350
.020 jump
avg vel: 3088fps!
1/4 moa with this load @ 100yd

from testing load with different seating depth touching, 0.010,0.020.0.030- avg velocity only fell off 2 fps every 0.010th i backed off the lands, and deviation were all around 7 fps, all loads produced under 1/2 moa.
