Does anyone have any load data for the new Berger 230 Gr 308 Cal Hybrid bullet for use with a Remington 300 Ultra Mag. I have Remington cases and would prefer to use Hodgden Retumbo, H1000 I live in Australia and that powder is readily available here. The rifle has a 26" barrel with a 1 in 10 twist. Can anyone also tell me the BC etc for that bullet.

I just loaded some up last night to test this weekend. I loaded them 20 thou off the lands and progressively heavy charges to check for pressure signs. You can e-mail Berger for load data as well.

Thanks for that. Let us know how your testing goes. I would also be very interested to hear how these bullets have performed on game at long range.

I am also interested in a load I just ordered 50 and I am shooting a sendero 26" barrel I would like to use ratumbo also any info would be appreciated

I recieved this load data from Walt Berger.

Very quick response and very helpful company.

I have just started load development this is how it went. Alt 3291 ft temp 40 Retumbo 87gr-2875; 88gr-2872; 89gr 2958; 90gr 2951; 91gr 3028; 92gr 3078; 93gr 3094 - 94gr 3111 - 95gr bolt felt tight. When i reloaded i could see the primmer's pockets were to lose at 93gr and 94gr so i went back to 90 1/2 gr to 91gr and 91 1/2 and I shot three shot groups to see which got the best ES. Got a ES of 12 with 90 1/2 gr at a vel 2982 ft. Got a ES of 16 with 91 1/2. I have a short throat in my rifle so i can reach the lands at 3.714. I am going to back off the lands to 3.658 and see if it gets better ES.

H-1000

87gr 2882
88gr 2886

93gr 3062
94gr 3094
95gr 3169
96gr 3107
97gr 3193
I stoped there the bolt never got tite. The primmer pockets where to lose from 95gr on so i whent back to 91 1/2 gr. three shot group vel were 3000 3023 3023. Whent up to 93gr but the ES did not get any better. I will back off the lands to 3.658 and see if it gets any better ES. I am not a exbert so start low with your loads and go one gr at a time your rifle will tall when to stop. I hope this help. I can not spell very good so i have to ask the wife to spell when she is hear.

New Shooter, are you sure that's what your loading for 230gr? sounds like data for a lot lighter bullet.

I loaded some up from 83-85gr H-1000 around 20 thou off the lands. I just shot a few 83 & 83.5 gr charges. Primers were flat, but I still have room to go I think. I was shooting 12x12 steel @ 400yds with POI and drop from my 208 A-max load. Every hit was on steel. I had a new shooter shoot a couple so I have no data on how accurate the load was. I'm not in a big hurry with these OTMs, as there are 230 gr hybrids (non OTM) listed on the Berger site with a slightly higher BC. I read somewhere they will be released in a couple weeks. I was also focusing more on my 338LM, getting it dead nuts. I've got a few Coues hunts coming up at the end of October and early November I'm helping out on. If we take one with my RUM and the 230 Bergers I'll definitely fill you guys in. With my small amount of testing there is definitely some potential there. I think Broz had some loads ready to test out on some critters, atleast I read that on a Weatherby forum. Hopefully he will post on the terminal ballistics. here is the link

YES I AM SURE. Just got back from the gun club my son in law was with me we both are working up loads him 300-7mm any away he is studer then me on the lead sled hes 42 i am 63. I had him do the shooting .I had loaded up h-1000 91 1/2 gr three shot group vel was 2956 2954 2944 great load. Then went to 92gr of H-1000 three shot group vel 2965 2964 2968 over all lengh is 3.653. This is right at 1/2 moa at two hunder yards. This is the lowest ES that i have every shot in my life. It realy is something to see the ES change by going from 3.679 over all to 3.653. I love that rock creek barrel. You sould go up in powder one grain at a time i think you will be glad you did. Joe

Sun in law took it home with hem to do something to the stock. I think it is a 26'' plus muzzle brake. remenber usley the max load is real cunseretive.

I ran the numbers on the 230 hybrid target with a .743 b/c at 3000fps and the numbers are quite impressive, even over my 210VLD at 3100fps. I e-mailed berger last night requesting more technical info on this bullet and the differences between the Hybrid OTM and the Hybrid Target. This may be the regular heavy jacket bullet for target shooting as the name suggests. I will let you know when I hear back.

I have emailed Brian several times in the past two weeks and have not recieved any info yet kind of getting frustrated

The BC on the box 230gr G7 .364 G1 .711 When i talked to the tex he said 719. This is the Tacyical Hybrid otm. Where did you get .743 bc ?
