I'm thinking of having my 8 twist 22-250 rechambered to 22-243 Middlestead. Do any of you guys have any exp. with this round? I think RCBS makes dies(a little pricey) any other manufacturers? Redding with a soft sleeve for reaming? Thanks, Sam in Va.

Mine is the Ackley version with a 40deg shoulder.

Probably James in Tenn was right. The 22-243 (plain) can do almost anything the Middlestead or AI can do, and can do it with a lot less trouble. No case forming and dies are easier to get.

I do get great accuracy and good brass life with my 22-243AI but the fireforming can be a down side, particularely with a cartridge that will consume throats pretty easily.

I have an 8" twist but only shoot the 75gr A-Max (moly) bullet. The 9" would have worked well for that bullet and may have been a bit faster too.

This cartridge is a nightmare for Pa groundhogs.
