I've decided to leave my Rem 700 untouched for now and try the Berger bullets. Does anyone have any loads for this bullet? If this works well, then I'll make some changes to the rifle.

74 gr of H-1000 and work up toward 77 looking for pressure. A CCI 250 or Fed 215 GM and .005" to .040" off the lands. As you aproach the max charge you should see close to 2900 fps from a 26"

Thanks for your help. I ended up with 72.5 gr RL-22 for my load. It worked so well I changed to a 3.5-15 Nightforce scope and a Stockys stock. If I can figure out how to send pictures, I'll send a picture of the rifle and the 340 elk that I got. It's being mounted now.

Might consider looking at the 215gr Berger as well. Fantastic bullet and getting great results on game despite not being a "hunting" VLD. Bit hard to find at the moment though!

This man here knows what he is talking about. Also 71-73 grains of Re22 will get you there also.

Don't forget about 4831sc. In combination with 215 hybrids and CCI 250 primers, my 300 WM is running extremely nice.

In my Savage i tried H1000, Retumbo, H4831 and a few others..
but H4831 gave me the best groups at 600yds and i think the velocity was 2875?
Winchester brass, Winchester primer, 70.5gr H4831, 210 gr berger. pretty sure it was jammed .005'
