I took delivery of a new to me 300WM today and have no idea where to start. It's a 28" Bartlein 1:10 throated for 230 Berger OTM's and the original owner only shot H1000 in it.

Problem is I leave in under 2 weeks for a bear hunt and don't have either 230's or H1000. I do have several hundred 208's ELD-M and several pounds of Retumbo left over from an old 300 RUM.

Might anyone have any decent data for this combo?

any insight is appreciated.

My load is 77.7 grains with both the 208 hornady's and the 210 SMK's in Federal brass. You should find a workable load somewhere in that area.

I have a remington 700 police
300 wm , 1:10
I know like hot charge
My barrel now its 24 inch
How far from the lands you find the accurate charge ?
For 80.6 h1000 and 208 eld-m
I have a box of bergers 210 vld also
Thank s a lot

Ok
My barrel it s factory barrel
I think doesn t matter
Anyway i have to try
Hope to find the good charge
One more think please
Do you try to find the best groop to 100 yards or 300 ?
I am in europe and i use meters but no problem
I can convert
Thank s a lot

I found my groups at 100 yards. My coal is 3.610" its loaded very long to get the extra powder I would start low and work up to 80.6 its about 4 grains over book max load

Ok
Do you use also bergers vld s ?
For this one same coal ?
How did work 208 eld m for hunting ?
Make devastastion on the meat or not to much ?

I have not used the bergers in my 300 but I used the 208s for hunting shot a mule deer at 587 yards it dropped him he didnt even flinch or move just dropped

I had a 300wm and now a 300 Norma. I've shot Berger 230s,215s,245s, 225elds, & 230 atips. The 208 seemed to me to be the least finicky of them all. Not saying that the others were finicky but they just wanted to shoot. Im sure there are multiple nodes but if you can get those 208s up to somewhere around 3050-3060 fps, I think you will have a dandy grouping load.

Ok
Thank s a lot for everithing
I will try to use federal and rws brass
Cci 250 primers
Some others i understand use federal 215 primers
I don t have now that primers
But i think not diffrece between them
Keep in touch

I run 215gm and cci 250s. I haven't noticed much difference performance wise. The 215gm has a thinner cup and will flatten upon firing easier than a cci 250. WLRM is the hottest primers I have ever used use caution if you ever decide to try them.

I did found this :
208 touch lands at 3650
So my coal must be 3640

210 touch lands at 3573
And my coal must be 3563

Right ?

I will try to load from 79 up
I will increase 0.5 grain for each charge
I will make 3 pcs / charge and i will try to find groups.
