200 gr. Eldx

I'm experimenting with doing a rough seating depth test first and now that I've done it I'll shoot a ocw test. And then once I find that I'll try fine tuning the seating depth of need be but I honestly don't see it changing anything too much. Luckily I can seat these wherever I want in my particular rifle. It was throated for 215 Berger's but doesn't shoot them very well.
Hopefully it shows a good load for you. I like the 212, it's a little slicker then the 200

My load for my 24" Mil-Spec. 300WM. The 200 ELD-x is seated .020" off the lands. I have also used 76gr of H1000, but velocity is about 70fPS lower then the Retumbo.

In the ol mans 300winny, H1000 was not well liked...I know:eek: but, Rel22 did GREAT with Fed215m or CCI250's we worked up a load that was 72.5gr under a 200gr bullet (that is max and we did see pressure signs in Nosler cases) , H4831...70gr, Nosler case, Fed215m, 200gr AB. Both bullets set .020 off the lands, rifle is from 1965, wood stock, 2-10 scope and 4 out of 5 bullets touch at 100yrds. good luck.........

That's good to know. Yeah my last barrel hated h1000. It's was mediocre at best but really shot h4831 well. Even with the heavies. H1000 and the 215 Berger did not shoot well in this bartlein either. That all I've tried besides these 200 eldx but I'm out of h1000 so running the 4831 instead. I would like to try rl26

So how does the ELDX do say compared to Bergers and the Barns X line upon impact. Haven't seen anything online as of yet on the ELDX precision hunter line. Got my .300 dialed in with these rounds, they seemed fly absolutely great, just wondering how they will do upon impact and follow thru on the animal

They are a pretty rapid expanding bullet in my observations and from what most others have said. They do perform very well at lower velocity. I think they're good. I'd say they hold together better then a berger. Not sure on the Barnes only have experience with their solids.

Well I ran back out to the desert to shoot for some groups .020" off the lands here's the results.

100 yards/ 3 shot groups/h4831sc

69.5gr. - 1.026"
70gr. - 1.22"
70.5 gr. - .295"
71 gr. - 1.095"
71.5 gr. - .464"
72 gr. - .76"
72.5 gr. - 1.665" now I had the first two shots go .508" and the third had hard bolt closure and it was a bad flier. Not sure what happened there.
73 gr. - .845"

Not horrible but definitely not what I'm looking for. Again I'm looking for a consistent 1/2 moa or better. I may have to try to duplicate 70.5. And I'm probably gunna play around with 71.5-72 and see what I can come up with. I didn't Chrono any of these as I hate how the magneto speed attaches to the barrel and don't really like using it while checking group size. But I was at 2890 with 69 gr so I'm guessing 71.5 - 72 is gunna be right under 3k

Hey Joe,
I don't know if that is a typo or not, but if you are getting 0.295 at 70.5 grains, that is showing a ton of potential. And the 0.464 at 71.5 grains is looking good, too, if you are hungry for (what I assume will be) more velocity. Speed isn't the end all, be all though. If you are shooting in the 0.2s...you are on to something! Bullet placement trumps all. Looks like you could place that bullet up a gnat's hind end...

I'm running them .030 with a book max load of H1000 with WLRM primers and getting a little under 1/2" groups at 100 yds

No it's not a typo I just thought it was kinda strange that it's shooting an inch on either side of that charge. I'm going to try to duplicate it

Ok so just shot my seating depth test. Shot it at 69 gr with h4831sc. I haven't done any load development with this barrel bullet prior to this. Shot 4 shot groups. My best seating depth was .020 and it shot a 1.3" at 100 group. All the way out to .090 it was about the same with only being a few tenths bigger in group size. 0.130 opened way up. Velocity was right around 2890. Many of these groups would have been in the .6-.8 range with only 3 shots.

I'm going to load up 69.5-73 gr in half grain increases. I'm hoping that 69 was just outside of a node. We will see. Must be a half minute load for me to use it.
I'm getting great results with the 208 gr using H4350 .015 off
