.20 cal barrel recommendations

My 11 twist 26" Criterion 20 Practical barrel LOVES 39gr SBK's. It prints 3/4" (or better at times) 5 shot groups @ 200 yards in light winds with a load of 25.2gr of IMR 8208. Last year I was able to take PD's out past 600 yards with it when the winds were manageable (8-12 mph). Anything under 400 yards is just too easy with this gun/barrel. This was a 3 shot group in about 10 mph from about 2 o'clockish crosswinds the last time I had it out at the range to recheck my zero.

I have two 20Ps. One with Shilen Super Match, one with Criterian. Both 26" varmint contour. IIRC they are 12 twist. I shoot 32gr, and 40gr mostly Nosler and Hornady. Both very accurate.

l have a Cooper 21 in TAC20. l believe it has a Wilson barrel, fluted @26''. lt likes 32gr VMAX, loves 32gr Varmigeddons. 40GR VMAX produce shotgun patterns. l have untried 40gr BERGERS, 35gr BERGERS. No 39gr SBK. l dont know the twist

I will bet you its a 12 twist. Wilson didn't even make any thing faster in a 20 cal untill about 3 or 4 years ago.

I have a couple 20s with 12 and 11 twist rates. The 40 grain Vmaxs have shoot better than the 39 grain blzkgs in each gun. just a data point. The last one I did has an 11 twist with 3 grove. I'd pick 11 as a minimum for 40 grains and a 10 if you are concerned about it.
