190 gr Berger Hunting VLD for .300WSM

I'm working on one now with h4350 federal 215m primers and win brass. I'm interested in others findings and I won't have data for a week or so

My best load in my Wsm is the 190 hunting vld. .012 off the lands which in my rifle gives an coal 2.904", 215m primer, winchester brass, 62.5 grains of H4350 from my 24" barrel gives 2875 fps with ridiculously low ES and is very mild but that is where the groups became single holes. If I use federal brass I drop the the powder charge to 62.0 and get exactly the same performance. I got real lucky with my tikka and the VLD bullets as it was the easiest load tuning I have ever done. Hope yours go as well, Good luck.

Thanks
I have the brass prepped just wait for the bullets to get here. I have alot of H and IMR 4350. I am using a Ruger M77 Mark II. Working up an elk load for this Nov.
Thanks for the info.

Load data was generated using Quick Load a 26 inch barrel a COAL (cartridge over all length) of 2.860 inches and your COAL and velocity could be a little different.
AS WITH ALL RELOADING APPROACH THE MAXIMUM LOADS WITH CAUTION AS ALL RIFLES AND RELOADING TECHNIQUES WILL BE DIFFERENT. If YOU CHANGE ANY OF YOUR COMPONENTS; THIS INCLUDES DIFFERENT POWDER LOT NUMBERS; YOU MUST REFIGURE YOUR LOADS BY STARTING WITH THE MINIMUM LOAD.
If we can be of any additional help feel free to contact us.
Thanks for your interest and have a great day.

The load data he sent me was in chart form. The chart did not transpose into the email/forum very well. I can forward the email Walt sent me if you would like for me to.

I know this is a little late but I just ran across this topic. I have a 300wsm win.model 70 coyote with the SS bull barrel (26") and I have had the best performance out of 60.0 grains IMR 4350 215M primers and win brass trimmed to 2.090 and seated to an overall OJIVE measurement of 2.2225". Which is .0005 in the lands chrono'd at 2834.
Will drive tacks out to 600 which is the max I can shoot in se ga. gun)

I have two factory Winchester 300 wsm rifles that both shoot under moa all the way to 1000 yards. We have access to a range that has 6 metal targets with ar 500 steel at each distance from 300 to 100o yards..
Our pet load in both guns are factory Winchester brass full length sized, fed 215 match primer, Berger 190 v ld at 2.860 coal and 61 grains of IMR 4350.
One gun has a 24" barrel and shoots at 2808 fps.
Other gun has a 26" shillen and shoots at 2800.... Go figure!
I can keep both approx half moa to 1000 yards

Working on another friends this week that will shoot the same load. Will let you know how it goes.

These Winchester guns have long throats and shoot the vld at factory coal of 2.860. They do worse closer to the lands for us.

Here is mine:

Remington 700 Titanium, Shilen 24. barrel.

63.0 IMR 4350. 2880-2900 FPS
Norma Brass
Win. large rifle primers.
OAL (30 cal collet 0'd on calipers) 2.1565-2.1635

This rifle has a HS precision 2 shot removable magazine, and the above OAL is a long as I can seat them and have them fit in the mag.

My recipe is
61gr Hodgon 4350 (more consistent velocity than IMR 4350)
2.825 COAL
2950 fps
190gr hunting VLD Berger
Sako A2 rifle

The guys at BOTW came up with the load and built the turrent for the Huskmaw.
Very deadly combo for elk!

[Came across this load recently. Tried it in my Lawton action and this man knows what he's talking about! Although I set my bullets a little deeper *coal 2.860 this load put 4 straight rounds
into the same hole. I quit and packed up. This load is right on.
