Just got these for a boar hunt, I loaded 66grains magpro oal of 2.770 . My velocity was 2,760fps. Shooting a 8400 kimber classic select grade. My problem is bad accuracy and the bullets are keyhole shaped. I know I can get another 150fps or more, do you think the extra speed will stablize the bullet. I've had this problem with 150 gr bergers. But once I got the speed up to 3225 I shot just over a half inch 3 shot group. I know my twist rate is 1n10. These have a lot of bearing surface. I moly coated them to.

I doubt the additional 150 fps will make a difference. There are a variety of twist rate calculators on the net. Berger has an easy one to use on their site. Just plug in parameters for a rough idea.

Different formulas exist for different bullet types, but it should point you in the direction you're looking at without burning powder and bullets.

Interesting, I spoke too fast maybe. Woodleigh says that 1-!0 should work, as does Bergers calculator.

Berger also says that 150 shouldn't be a problem.

Ever verify that twist?

There website says 1-10 twist will be fine. I'm hitting the paper its just, they look keyhole. I know some bullets won't stabilize at 270 velocity, but 270 weatherby, and 270 wsm don't have problems shooting them. So I'm just gana get my velocity up to 2950 and see what happens. Thanks for the reply though if it don't work I'll be back to the drawing board.

I'm sure my kimber is 1-10. I shoot 1/4 inch groups with 130gr sst. And berger 130gr. The 150 bergers are a little over a half inch. Kimber rifles either shoot good, or they don't shoot good. All the ones for sale that are used, I believe they won't group. That's cause they had quality issues for a while. Mine shoots better than any 7 pound rifle I ever shot. The farthest deer kill was 485 yds. I'm using a leupold vx3 with the boone n crocket reticle.
