Anyone using a load not listed in Nosler book? What powder and weight did you start at? I am using a 24" barrel with 10 twist. I have IMR 4320 and plan on working a load with it but dont have any of the other powders listed.
Imr 4320 is to fast for a 300wm, with 180grn and smaller bullets I find Imr and H 4350 to be the best. I use 73grns under 180s but that's hot, it may not work in your rifle so i'd start at about 69grns. Imr4831 will likely net the highest velocity with H4831sc coming in a close second, but the 4350s will likely be more consistant. Also I reccomend NOT using magnum primers with these powders.
I am using RL-22 over CCI 250's your rifle will dictate what it likes so if you have one of the 4350's 4831's RL-19 or Rl-22 you should be able to find something accurate and flat shooting with the 180 AB
77. to 78.5 Grains of H-4831 with Federal 215 GMM primers. Work up to this as this is near max as it gets. The former great Bob Hagel used 78.5 grains in his trusty model 70 Winchester using Nosler Partitions. I have found the same load works well with 180 Grain Accubonds and Swift Schiroccos also. Good for mice to moose.
The most accurate load, and the fastest, I use with the 180gr AB is with R-P brass, Fed 215 primers and 81gr of RE25. I also de-burr the flash holes on this brass, it gives me a slight accuracy improvement.
I started at 78gr and worked up to 82.5gr, but 81gr was the most accurate with a COL of 3.390".
Tried the 4320 today and did not get anythig that resembled an accuracy node. I have some IMR4381 I will load up some tomorrow and check them out. If that don't work I will try the reloader 22 or 25. Thanks for the help
I tried most of the loads tested above, but none of them could out perform H1000 in my REM 700 with a 24 inch barrel. I loaded 81 grains of H1000 behind 180 gr. Accubonds that averaged 3140fps and shot 3 shots under 1/2 inch at 100yds. Since no two chambers are identical I would start a few grains less to be on the safe side because you can always work up. This load is close to max in my rifle. I'm using Winchester brass and Fed 215M primers. NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR NOT STARTING OUT WITH STARTING LOADS. Hope this can help you.
