I bought some thinking they were 175g what do you think would be a safe load with IMR4895 I was thinking 43gr

33.8 to 41.4 max is what the book calls for. I've played with the 308 and all the AMAX bullets from 155 to 208 for years and if I gave you any advice it would to be use the 155 AMAX and Varget or RL15. (At just under 3000 fps)

Want to shoot heavy 30 caliber bullets, go with a 300 Win Mag or better. The 178's in my 300 Mag shoot awesome. I have 3 308 rifles and all of them shoot the light 155's under 1/2 MOA. So that's my opinion on 308 bullets. I also lean toward the 155 AMAX in my 30-06.

Oh, and make sure you use the AMAX seater if you are using Hornady dies.

I used to shoot Match kings at 150g and it shot very very well. Even with a pretty hot load. Looking to make some hunting rounds for hogs to be shot around 200 yards max.

I would re-think that load. I ran into pressure issue at 42.5 gr. H-4895 with a 175 gr. SMK.
I settled with 41.8 and it shot very well. You may get to that point with your rifle but I would definitely start lower than 43.0 gr.

People have shot 250-gr. match bullets from .308 Winchester cases getting 1/2 to 3/4 MOA at 1000 yards for 20 shots or more. You don't need huge cases to shoot heavy 30 caliber bullets accurately.
