I just finished a 7mm Rem Mag build, and I'm about to start reloading for it. I had really good results with the 162 gr ELDX in my 7 SAUM build, so I built this rifle with intentions of shooting the 175 gr ELDX. I got a 1:8 twist, 26" ss barrel, made by X-Caliber, for the rifle just for the 175's. I have new Norma brass for the build, wlrm primers, and gobs of H1000 (12lbs). I know the H1000 might not get me the most velocity, but I'm not worried about that. I want to make this as accurate as possible. My problem is, that I'm not finding any useful information at all when it comes to this combination. Can anyone tell me what a starting load would be for this round, and an estimated max? I'll work up and be safe, but I really don't know where to begin. If anyone has any personal experience with this combination, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks.

I'm running that combo with 69.0 grains, don't know velocity, shoots good.
Thanks for your help. I was running up to 70.5 grs of h1000 and the 168gr berger vld's. I was thinking that I should be able to get up to 68-69 grs with these 175 gr ELDX's. But a few sources I found showed 65.5 grs max for 175 gr nolser lr accubonds, which had me wondering. I think I'll start at 65 grains, and work up to 69-70 grains.

I got 7 mm RM full custom also and I have a great load with 180 bergers and doing load Work with 180 eldm. My load with bergers is 69.4 gr and went up to 71 so with 175s u will be around that same area. I am shooting same ladder charges with 180 eldm. This is with h1000 also. Best of luck brother

With that length barrel and 175s u are going to be around 69 or better and seems to always be a good node around the 2950-3000 fps mark. I am breaking 2990 with mine with 180s and it's a 22" proof barrel running a can. Shoot me a message I have dabbled with all the heavies in mine and might can give u a few pointers from what I have learned thus far, nice stick brother. As always do start low and work up but relatively easy caliber to tune.

Thanks Remmy700, I really appreciate the info. I figure I should be sitting somewhere around the 69 gr mark to get 2950 fps with this rig. I did have the barrel cryoed too. Supposedly that's good for accuracy and a few extra fps. I'm not sure why you would pick up fps from cyro treating the barrel, but that's what they claim. Lol. I'll send a PM your way.

I have loaded for a lot of different 7RMs using 168-183 bullets and H1000.

My personal 7RM shoots both the 180 Hybrid and 183 SMK using H000. 69.0gr for both.
This is 3 shots w. 180 Hybrid @ 2996fps

183 SMK @ 2975fps

This is a buddy's 7RM w. 175 ELD-X

This is another buddy's 7RM w. 68.0 H1000 & 175 ELD-X

Another buddy's 7RM w. 175 Berger Elite Hunter and 69.0 H1000

Yet another buddy's 7RM w. 175 Berger Elite Hunter & 69.5 H1000

Again, another buddy's 7RM w. 180 HVLD & 70.0 H1000

I have found between 67.5-71.0 H1000 to usually be the sweet spot for most rifles in the 168-183 bullet range.

Thanks for that info!!! Another quick question. How far off the lands have you been loading the ELDX? I know the bergers I was shooting liked to be touching the lands or .010" off. The closer the better. Thanks again.

In the photos, both of the 175 ELD-X loads were 2.821" CBTO. I don't remember the jump though.

Do you recall what your max charge weight was with the 175 ELDX and H1000. In the 4th picture down, you got up to 68 grains. Were you able to go above that?

Totally depends on the rifle. I have used up to 71.5 in some rifles with no pressure. Others have maxed out at 69.0. But, I go with what works best, which is not necessarily top speed.

I totally understand. I'm just trying to save myself some time is all. I hate loading too many loads that end up being over the max, and then having to pull them apart because I never got to shoot them. I'm just trying to find a starting point, and a rough max. So far I think I'm going to start at 66 grains, and work up to 70 grains, in .5 grain increments. I think that is a safe starting point, that should get me some valuable information. I think I should be able to find something to work with in that range. I'm not looking for a set fps or anything. If I don't make it to 3000 fps, so be it. I learned a long time ago, that slow and accurate ,is better than a fast miss.

It might be a week or two before I make it to the range, but I promise to post some pics once I make it out. Thanks for the help so far everyone. More than likely it will be May 4 or 5th that I make it to the range.
