Just wondering at what you guys that hunt Prairie Dogs sight your .17HMR's for? Also what is a reasonable range to shoot PD's with a ,17HMR?

thanks

Ok thanks guys. I only have a 100 yard range so that will work. My problem now is my scope crapped out this afternoon.

What is the hold over at 150 and 200 yards?

Assuming a 17gr V-max @ 2550MV, 100yd zero, you should see approximately:

2" drop at 150

7.3" drop at 200

17.4" at 250

My Cooper 57M LVT .17 HMR rifle with a Burris Fullfeild II 4.5-14 X AO scope is sited in at 125 Yds. At 75 Yds its .9 inch high, 150 Yds low 1.4 inches, at 175 Yds low 3.7 inches ,at 200 Yds low 7.0 inches shooting 17 Gr bullets. I live in prairie dog country and have shot a bunch of p dogs with the .17 HMR rifle. At 150 Yds the 17 GR bullet has about 100 ft/lb of energy ,and at 200 Yds its down to about 70 ft/lb of energy. I some what limit my shots to 150 Yds where the bullet still open up when hitting a p dog at any angle. I use 17 Fireball or .204 Ruger rifle for longer shots.

I went with 150.
But maybe be going with 125
