17 HMR Scope Help: Mueller or Simmons

Looking at these two scopes. Any input would help

Mueller APV 4.5-14x40

Or

Simmons Protarget 3-12x40

I know the Mueller has a ton of reviews. I can't find many about the Simmons but seems relatively decent.

May I suggest an alternative? I just put a BLACKHAWK! 3-9x40 on my .17 HMR. It cost me $220 from the sample list. Scope is repeatable and mil/mil. Accurate adjustments, very firm and crisp, repeatable. I use it to take headshots on squirrels out to 125 yards. BLACKHAWK! Also makes a 3.5-10x50 you might want to consider. BH is owned by ATI, and their tactical line is basically the Weaver Grand Slam series.

I personally wouldn't buy either one of those optics you asked about... Just personal preference.

I have a Mueller 4.5-14 X 50 APT on my Savage MKII and love it. It's bright, clear and repeatable. Another thing I like is the fact it will focus down to 7 yards. Great scope for the money IMO.
