17 Fireball

I have owned and shot every variation of the .17 cal and have developed some strong opinions on them. On paper it's all good in the field not so much, my use for them has been for foxes and groundhogs. I find them finicky , susceptible to the wind and not great killers even on solid shots. From the 17 hm2 to 17 rem I like the 17 hornet the best. It's a under 200 yard fox rifle that doesn't destroy pelts and a close range quiet rifle for small game ( chucks , rabbits etc) . The 204 ruger is superior in my humble opinion . I agree that if your set on the fireball the rebarreling a 223 is a great idea.

I have a Remington VSSF II factory 17 fireball. Enough brass to last a lifetime. Dies and over a thousand hornady bullets. Rifle has been fired under 100 rounds. $2000.00 Let me know if you're interested.
