What say you?!?
Berger 7mm 168vldh @2950fps or Berger 180 hybrid @ 2835fps for mule deer and Elk out to 1000yds.
Accuracy being equal

Thanks guys
That's how I'm leaning,
I think I was just tempted by the higher velocity of the 168, but deep down know that I want to shoot the 180 😂

Run the numbers.

If you want 1800fps and 1500ft/lbs for elk, neither will get you there.
7000' AMSL & 35°F:

168 drops below 1500ft/lbs at 890 yds, below 1800fps @ 1110 yds (plenty for deer @ 1208ft/lbs)
180 drops below 1500ft/lbs at 930 yds, below 1800fps @ 1100 yds (plenty for deer @ 1293ft/lbs)

Ya 1000 mite be a stretch but that 180 gets darn close though.
Not to shabby for an 8lb scoped rifle

I personally think the 180 is the better choice but that's just my opinion. That's what I shoot in my 7mmLRM and they have worked very well for me so far. No 1000 yards kills for me and there probably never will be but I know the rifle and the ammo are up to it! My LRM is pushing the 180's at just over 3000 fps.

My avatar picture shows the bull I shot in New Mexico with a 7LRM and 180 Hybrids at 750 ish yards. My longest kill to date.

So are you saying that you've shot them both at 1K and they shoot equally well?

Berger 180 hybrid without a doubt, based on my last 9 years experience. My longest one-shot elk was 756 yards with a bipod and rear-bag platform. I also shoot a lot of live and dry-fire rounds to maintain my shooting technique...enjoy your hunt.
