Trying to nail down the seating depth in my 308 win Rem 700 SPS tactical using Barnes 168 TSX. What is the overall length COAL are you using for best accuracy with this bullet?
I know they rec 2.810"

Thank you for any info

I wouldn't even think about loading that bullet in a 308. No where near enough velocity unless you are shooting big bones at 100 yards. You will have expansion issues due to low velocity.

morning, totally disagree. the 168gr. barnes is perfect for
308 under most circumstances. range, rifle, and recoil have
working properties. NORMALLY the 165 to 168gr. bullets work very
well in the 308cal. class. personally I shoot the 135 TTSX.
faster cause of weight, accuracy very good bullet. load to magazine length
work backwards till accuracy improves. I shoot these in my
308. never questioned the performance of this bullet.
mine is custom 98mauser, bmg barrel, timmey trigger,
fully cercoted. sniper gray. 6.5x20x44 Nikon monarch.
meat getter. justme gbot tum

Just as a "very" general rule of thumb....the Barnes bullets like to be set-back well short of the lands. Which is pretty convenient, when your dealing with bullets that are mono (long)! memtb

morning, depends on the throat?? or u could measure a loaded
round and work forward in the seating of the bullet. the ogive
of the bullet normally dictates the seating of the bullet for accuracy.
justme gbot tum. barnes bullets depending on the design can
b seated at various depths.

Ok thanks
My main critter will be moose, so the 168gr TSX should be about right in the 308 Win. although I was thinking about the 150 TSX. The 308 Win and 155/150 is such a good combination.

morning, u use a barnes bullet TSX or TTSX shoot thru both
front shoulders of the moose, which I would do to anchor in position.
150gr.TSX thru 168gr. TTSX u can not go wrong. also HSM ammo
is used by African guides and hunters is very good ammo.
justme gbot tum. moose and elk meat r the best of the wild
game meats.
