The hinge cap unscrew for a tripod adapter. As for where they are made, it doesn't specify on the binos but I believe It's assembled in the USA but the glass is Japanese.
 
My buddies at the Outdoorsmans tell me the front hinge is where the tripod adapter stud goes. If anyone knows, it the guys at the Outdoorsmans! Merry Christmas to all! DD62
