127 lrx

I killed a few with the 127. The longest range was about 420 yards. The impact velocity was about 2,550 feet per second. The exit was about the size of a quarter. If I was to use a different bullet it would be the Hammer bullet. I go unleaded now for hunting game.

Anyone shooting the 127 LRX? How far off the lands are you getting the best accuracy? I am just starting load development on a 6.5X47 and thought I would give these a try. Have never used a copper bullet so they are all new to me. Thought I would start them at 50 off and work my way up to 70 off as I have heard they like jump. Got a load developed for the 130 Accubond but it was slow and I hit pressure at 41 gr of H4350. Any tips would help. Thanks.

My 26 Nosler shoots LRXs best at .050 off....Creedmoor and 264 WM at .030 off. Nearly every Barnes bullet I've loaded for Many, Many years have shot well at either .030 or .050....they've been the easiest to find seating depth that I've ever loaded.

Maybe I started them to far off. As I said earlier I only shot 3 LRX. They were I believe 63 thou off. Next time out I will try 30 and 50 off. Thanks

I've used them in my 6.5-284 with a Rock Creek barrel.

In my rifle they actually shoot great 0.020" off the lands.

I also had a custom 7-08 with a bartlein that liked the 120 ttsx close to the lands.

Don't be afraid to try them in close, just work up slowly.

Good to know. For me the Berger Hybrids have been the easiest to load develop. 30 off and they have always shot good for me. Will about 2800 fps work with the LRX. Probably about as fast as I can shoot them out of the 6.5X47. Much more bearing surfacee than a 130 Berger.

Exit was about the size or a quarter.
Interesting....my description of entry and exits with Barnes on boar and deer I've killed is, "in the size of a nickle, out the size of a quarter". It has always been the same. One ~240 lb boar I hit (270Win 130gr) just above his heart and I there were spots of blood splattered all the way up to his ear from the point of impact. One smaller deer I hit in the neck at 80 yards (243Win 85gr) slightly smaller.

2550 @ 420 yards is movin!
"In the size a nickle out the size of a quarter" is my experience with them. All have gone through even angling in behind shoulder out the neck of a hog.

I like no possibility of led in my food but I would also like to hunt with the Bergers VLDH and VLDCH because I shoot them a lot for practice. But I've heard they pretty much go in and shed a lot of weight, which is led.

Antelope out of a 6.5-300 dont remember shot distance but I'm 30 thou off cow elk at 158 one and done. And this whitetail at 29something. We've killed a pile of others but these were some of the highlights.

Big fan of them in my 26 nosler. Still havent shot anything close yet, but moose and mule deer at about 700 yds. Spine shot on both. Recovered bullet from moose, nice mushroom. Shot mule deer at 350 with 129 lrx out of .270 win (basically same bullet). All three animals went less than 20 yds total.

I run them .225 off at 3380 in a 6.5-300wby. I ran a very wide test range, .200 to .400 with 0.025 intervals (bullet was out of the case @ the lands) this depth was profoundly the most accurate in my vanguard. But I figure barrel is about 1/3 gone after load development lol. These bullets will tolerate jump but I have no experience with them in close, dang Weatherby freebore! Dad has a cow tag and plans to use the rifle load combo. Plan to report results here.
