124 or 99 grain Hammer hunters in 6.5 creedmoor?

Thanks Steve.

I've read Tikka barrels are slower, and that is likely just the case here. I average just a touch over 2900 with 41 grains of Varget, without really seeing signs of pressure, then again I'm fairly new to reloading so I'm not going to push it any higher.

In my initial testing of charges, my gun had a nice flat spot right at 39.6 with an average of 2,840 FPS. I'm going to load some rounds up for groups at that charge and see what I get.

I went out today and had 4 different seating depths tested at 40.7 gr, all were sub MOA at 200, but some opened up a bit at 300. I feel like I could achieve better. I'm enjoying the process.

Try some H4350 if you can find it. I have a great load with the hammer hunter 124, 45 gr H4350, federal 210m primer and lapua brass. 3003 fps with a 3 shot group at .3" @ 100 yd. This is out of a Tikka T3x.

Nice! I actually have 2lbs and just haven't loaded it with the hammers yet, but definitely will be giving it a shot.

Has anyone tried Super Performance with 124 or will that be too slow? I run Superform with 125 Partitions in a couple of 260s at 2900 and 2960 with amazing accuracy. I have 10 pounds of Superform and now that Partitions are $1.10 each I think I should start playing with Hammers. Same price and better availability?

How do you like the lighter bullet on game?

Need to work up a load for my wife and was considering the 99 gr because she is very recoil shy. Probably would load it down near 2900-3000 to help even more with that.
On game reports have been very good. @snox801 did an audad hunt in TX with the grendel and the 99g Hammer Hunter. If I remember correctly he shot 4 at ranges out to 400y and none traveled more than 40y after the shot.

Steve - Is the difference between the 99gr and the 124gr in the petals, base or a combination?
I guess all of the above. All of our bullets are designed to shed the nose down to the shoulder. So from bullet to bullet there will be a diff in % of weight retention depending on the nose length. So as a general rule heavier bullets of the same form and caliber will shed more weight and retain more weight. Trade off is the lighter bullet will hit with more vel out to the point that the heavier higher bc bullet passes up the lighter one.

With the 124's I am getting stellar results with my 6.5 24" Bolt Gun. I've already got a good load with my gas gun using IMR4350. But Superformance was negligible with the Absolute Hammer 123's.
