10 shots at 1260 Yards

Clayne B, You will do much better with your .308 at long range if you can shoot other bullets besides the 168SMK.That particular bullet is well known by target shooters to be good to 600yds., but others do a much better job at 1000yds. or farther. Some of the better ones in a .308 are Berger 185vld, 215hybrid, and 190SMK. I shoot Berger 185vld hunting bullets with 44gr. Varget .015 into the lands. My rifle is a trued Rem. 700, Sendero stock with D.E. cheekpiece,Jewell trigger,Bartlein 11to 9.8 gain twist 32" medium palma barrel built by Whidden Gunworks. At 1200 yds. It will keep most shots on a 11" gong if wind conditions are not bad. Gary

As Broz suggested, I would give the Beger 168 Hybrids a try, .519 bc and probably 30-40fps velocity gain over your current 168smk load, they will stay supersonic to 1260. The 155 palmas bc drops like a rock below 1800 fps because of there design, they were meant for 1000yrd matchs but that's it, the loss of weight also reduces sectional density and would cause a lot more wind drift.

Nice to see you dedicated to your shooting Clayne!
Looks like your load was coming apart out there, but that is some serious range for a 308 without loads dialed to go the distance :)

I have a few big 338s and 90% of the time they stay in the cabinet or truck.
I think you would love the 300Win with 230s.

Its like crack only more expensive! :)
