1 in 8 Twist too fast for 162 ELDX?

I have a 7 Saum with a 1 in 8 twist that I have been shooting 180s in but I wanted a little more velocity and I got my hands on a good number of 162 ELDX bullets. My question is whether the 1 in 8 twist is too fast for 162s. Is anybody running something like this with good results? To further complicate the situation, the 162s have shorter ogive than the Berger 180s I was running so they will have to be seated deeper into the case. I talked with the shop who built my barrel and they say they can add some free bore if I want. Before I go as far as adding free bore I wanted to see if anyone else was running that light of bullet in a 1 in 8.

Thanks
Bob

1 in 8 is not to fast. I have used the 162 eldx in my cooper 28 nosler with a 1 in 8 twist, 3 groove lilja barrel. They shoot great for me. I ended up using these when I ran out of 195 bergers.

I think the 1-8 will be fine....how much freebore does your Saum have?

No experience with the 162's, but I have shot a few thousand 166 Atips in a .235fb in a 8.5 twist with zero issues if this helps at all.

I loaded the 162 ELDX with 4831SC, 7828, and RE26.
Rock Creek Barrel is 24" 1-8 cut rifling
These first two powders did not get much attention,
57gr of 7828 shot a nice group, 2.275 CBTO
58gr of 4831SC also grouped well, 2.275 CBTO

My Magnetospeed was OOS above but working on these below.
Yep, I hit the bayonet one day and had to order one

RE26 became my focus; I had seen many positive post about it.
I was happy with accuracy and speed using 59gr of RE26, CBTO 2.270 - CCI MAG 2835,2841,2815,2830,2787.

I pulled the Magnetospeed and started shooting steel out to 407 with the load above and moved to 580s and lower 600s successfully.

Same day. 2.270 CBTO 59.4gr of RE26. FED 210M.
2826, 2782,2811,2818,2812. I pulled the Magnetospeed and started aiming for the steel out to 714. I could not have been happier
