Badlands Superday review by Andy Backus of the Long Range Hunting Store:
The Badlands Superday pack is a well thought out, tough day pack that feels at home in the whitetail woods or at the top of a mountain. The Superday is sized well for a single day's gear and is extremely well organized with tons of pockets and compartments. The Badlands Superday also features a built-in rifle scabbard system.
The Badlands Superday features a molded foam back panel that, while not as stiff as a frame pack, does make the Superday feel fairly strong and substantial, and also helps to transfer much of the weight to it's substantial waist belt. The molded padding fits snug to your back and also extends around the waist belt. I especially like how the padding is recessed where the waist belt fits over your hip bones. The waist belt itself is fairly stiff and supportive. The shoulder straps on the Badlands Superday pack are well padded and substantial. They feature a sternum strap and laddder-type gear connection points
The guys at Badlands are serious backcountry hunters themselves and it shows in some of the unique details they design into their packs. The Superday features a unique feature I've never seen on any other pack. On either side of the Superday's waist belt is a hidden, built-in, quick-access handgun holster for righty or lefty shooters. A pretty cool feature in bear country...
The Superday uses a heavy-duty waterproof nylon fabric with a soft and quiet brushed face on the majority of the pack. The bottom of the pack uses an even more durable cordura nylon. The Badlands Superday pack features a large main compartment that seems to widen out a bit at the bottom for extra storage space. On the inside-front of the main compartment is a large mesh pocket that works well as an organizer pocket but is also meant to house a Badlands 105 oz water bladder. The Superday has unique left and right side ports that allow the water bladder hose to run down the shoulder strap and hang securely just where you want it.
Beyond the Superday's main compartment are a large compartment with four organizer pockets built-in and a small compartment with a mesh organizer panel inside. Below these compartments, a small zippered compartment houses a simple drop-down nylon pocket that holds the butt of your rifle as a scabbard. Dual horizontal compressions straps on the rear of the pack hold your rifle securely to the pack. They also work great to strap on your bow. On the bottom of the pack are a pair of bedroll straps that are great for strapping extra layers to the outside of the pack. On either side of the Badlands Superday's waist belt are large zippered pockets, big enough for range finder, calls, extra gloves, etc.
