So I went out this past weekend and shot a three gun match, all I have ever shot was precision bolt gun matches. well I am hooked, had a great time with a bunch of great guys burning through some powder and lead. Naturally now I have to build an AR rifle as I have already signed up for another match next weekend. Fortunately I have a couple sets of billet upper and lowers and other parts at the shop now I just need barrels, so I have started making a couple ar barrels I have taken pics of my progress, they are coming along great, 8 twist, rifle length gas sysems. I have lightened them up under the handguard, I have a bad shoulder and don't like a lot of weight. They should be great for hunting also, I am already thinking of other calibers to build, won't be able to sleep tonight.
Pic 1 blank ready to start contour
Pic 2 finished contour under hanguard and undercut for barrel extension/ this pic was to be last
pic 3 turned front section and got the gas blocks fit
I will post more pics next week of threading the barrel and cerekoting my parts and accuracy testing the barrels. Take care

Hey guys here are the pics of the final stages of my build, I will try to go out tomorrow and get some range time but it is so dang cold out. The top 2 rifles will become the Hawk Hill models HXC (X-Tended Range Carbine) they will be offered in several barrel lengths, caliber options and cerekote. Can't wait to shoot them, will sight in the EOTech tomorrow for the match sunday. Stay tuned for more rifles planned for the near future. Take Care Shawn

Hey guys, The match I shot this weekend was awesome, we shot targets from about 20-300 yds with the new rifles. I didn't drop a single target for a time penalty, cleaned the course and ended in 3rd place, not to bad for a new rifle sighted in saturday with about 1/2 hour of daylight. I only shot one group at a hundred it was well under1/2 moa, probably .3 range with hornady 50gr factory shells. but I will take some target ammo to see what they'll really do soon as I get a decent day. I am going to build a DMR next for a DMR match coming up I'll keep you all posted. Take Care Shawn
