Looking to update my rangefinder

As the post states, I am looking to upgrade my Nikon range finder for hunting out to 1000 yds. Looking for some guidance as I haven't been in this market for a while. Thinking sperate unit rather than range finding binos as I have a good set of binoculars.

Leica 2800.com. Great unit for that use.

I have the first version on the Vortex HD range finding bino, very happy with it and it is fast, love the different modes and it is fast. Ranged rocks at 2000 yards, and game at over 1000. I want the new one now, it has built in ballistics, Not exactly what you asked, but I am all about eliminating a piece of gear, with one that does 2 jobs. They did just release new stand alone range finders this year also if that's the route you want to take. I will say they have awesome customer service and made here in the states. The replaced the bino case for free after I tore the side mesh pocket. I called to ask about buying the new ARCA head for my summit tripod and they told me to ship it in to them, they changed the head and sent it back for free (all their idea).

I have been happy with my Sig Kilo 2400ABS and I know they make newer/better models now. My advice is to get a rangefinder with a quality ballistic calculator (ie Applied Ballistics) in it. The technology is good and readily available, and it saves steps in the process when getting ready to make a shot.

Based on my experience with Nikon, Leica, Swarovski and Leupold range finders: they can provide you with accurate data at 800-1,000 yards and the choice becomes a matter of cost. However, if you are planning to shoot accurately at that distance, then wind, altitude, humidity, temperature, spin drift, coriolis, latitude and compass effect become critical and my choice was Gunwerks BR4.

Leica is a no brainer. They work. I run the 3200's as a all in one set up and love it but if I went back to a lrf I'd look hard at the br4 for sure.

Funny, I am doing the same thing too. And under the Leica Sport Optics 10/30 Passport, do they cover the electronics past 2 years? Kind of contradictory. Warranty itself says 2 years.
