Primer crush…does it matter?

As I stated earlier this is a hot topic! Ha ha gets all the blood flowing. As for me... don't have the equipment to even test it if it does matter so I'm moving on and looking for Berger 215's and battling inflation 🤣🤣🤣

Remember the old marketing tricks some companies do... some people and companies still do it, gotta make a buck sometimes

Setting primer crush, and striking in general matters a lot to me.
For example, I set FEDs/WINs/REMs at 2thou crush (they like it), but CCIs do not like it. For me, they flat out do better with 4thou crush.
With standards like this consistently applied (and not until then) you can go after optimized striking for chosen primer, and potentially tighten things up.

It's a great big abstract for sure. With a forgiving load/barrel and/or low enough expectations, then getting 'bang' from primers may be enough.

It's kinda surprising you all aren't trying to resurrect the etron x... I just cut my pockets (if they even need it- a lot don't) with a pocket uniformer and seat to below flush with a press mounted seater.

Y'all have to have a process no matter what way you go.
Deprime brass
Tumble wet in SS
Dry
But in Amp
Uniform Primer pockets
Run Redding Instant Indicator
Neck Turn
Run through FL Die with neck Bushing
Run through Henderson 3 in 1Trimmer
Prime
Measure Powder
Load Powder with case in block with funnel
Put case inshell holder and load bullet to correct length with match dies
put loaded cartridges in box until range or hunting time.

depends on what I'm feeding... I'll watch some a bit more than others. Lately I've been feeding the kid's rifles and my bolt action pistol a good bit. I tumble if dirty, scrape the pockets with my old uniformer (will cut if needed), set the caliper to check length, seat primers and cull brass with loose pockets that have seen a firing or two too many, and start the loading process...
On my 7rum I'll trim to uniform length, skim turn necks, prime, weigh charges, etc. but for 100-200 yard ammo it'll cut 1/2 to 2/3 moa groups just fine without serious fuss

I still have a box of those in 22-250. Find me a gun so I can buy it and shoot my ammo.

I should have bought a hundred bricks of that stuff (etron-x) and a couple actions... would be cool to run now... first primers I ever saw at $100 a brick after they pulled the plug on them

While I enjoy all of that while I'm doing it, I enjoy the next part best (i.e., pulling the trigger and seeing what happens).

What's all this about? I just make certain the primer is completely seated. This is an F1 Savage in .204 at 200 yards. Zero wind. Black dot is 9mm. Had a string of 5 and dumped a 6th (should have stopped at 5!

Great video. I'd be interested in learning more about the tool that is in development.
