Moving from 6.5 PRC to 300 PRC

So may I ask why sell your 6.5 PRC and not just build or buy a 300 PRC.?
If uts finances I got ya.
What are you intents in shooting with 300PRC? The 2 Mile Challenge in Ruidoso NM ?
I shoot a lot of different calibers from 204 Ruger up to 450 Bushmaster and Long Range 6.5 PRC and 300 PRC..I started out with Bergara Premier Pro 6.5PRC and the 300 PRC.Then to n a CUSTOM.If you get a rely qualified rifle builder to blue print your Bergara or whatever you choose and maybe a better barrel you will be saving some cash.If cash it's a problem then go full custom.
Long and short, partially finances. I have a work .308, a personal .308, and this 6.5 that MPA made.

I'd rather have a 300 PRC. I'm a huge fan of MPA, so I'd prefer they build one like they did this 6.5. That costs, plus I have no additional safe space.

Answer, sell the 6.5 with extras for the cost of the .300, get the fan base MPA…and free up safe space simultaneously.

Added bonus, standardized .30 cals in my household.

Talked myself out of getting a 300 PRC over the summer for a 6.5 PRC and buyers remorse has set.

I have a .308 for closer hunts/shooting…. The 300 would be obviously for LR/ELR.

Is there anyone with better insight than me that can talk me out of a 300 PRC or should I just go with what the heart desires?
I got a 300 PRC 2 years ago.. ammo was cheaper than 300 win mag, 35$ a box for hornady match. Now it is 129$ a box, if you can find it. That is more expensive than 338 LM.. even this summer i was able to pick up 100 rounds for 200$

Dang. I bought a bunch last week for 50$ a box. The guys charging 129$ are really taking advantage of the shortage. I'd be sure to take them off my vendor list.

It's for sale for $55 a box at numerous places right now. See one of my prior posts with a link.

Good Thinking.Whatever works for you is the ticket.Good Luck.

I SOLD my .300 Win mag Browning A-Bolt for a 6.5 PRC Browning X-Bolt Pro and love it.
To each his own, but for Nevada the 6.5 PRC is great.
I think it was a good trade.. Maybe not as pretty of a gun. My Browning A Bolt White Gold Medallion 7mm Remington Magnum is about as pretty of a gun as I own. But its no Safe Queen..I take her hunting too.LOL
I do love my Bergara Premier Pro 6.5 PRC and for the mountains I took my Mossberg 6.5 PRC.. That cheap gun shoots lights out.My opinion in Mossberg has changed. They wer cheap ole guns not well thought of when growing up.But they have come around or I just got lucky..LOL

My last cheap gun was a 6.5 CM RUGER American Predator (heavier barrel). I put a Timney trigger in it and it shot just as well as my RUGER Precision Rifle. I sold it because it had no bolt lock and I'd lost a few cartridges carrying it in brush.

My previous Browning A-Bolt was stainless steel that I had black Teflon coated by a company that iso coated Navy Seal firearms. It had an adjustable BOSS muzzle brake that tunes barrel harmonics for accuracy. It worked too.

My 1st 300 PRC was a Browning A Bolt 7mm Rem Mag. After A new barrel I was in business.I had to single feed the rounds though.

I love my 300PRC, specially after I put a new Zeiss Conquest v6 3-18x50 6 reticle w/ hunting turret. The Glass on this Zeiss is incredible during the last 15 minutes of shoot time. I am hunting in 30 ft. tall timber in Eastern NC and it get dark in the timber before end of shooting time and I can still see the color of the leaves at 200 yds. I took the buck in my profile with this rifle on 12-28-2020 in the last 5 minutes of shooting time. I have no recoil from this rifle. I hunt with the 300PRC because we have huge Black Bear between 350 to 800 lbs in my area.

Always pays to have the best glass, the days of the tasco 1972 special 100$ scopes should be out of everyone's mind. RifleCost*1.5 to 2 for glass
Sadly that is not the case…..there are still ppl that buy $50-$100 scopes. Most don't need a $300-$4,000 scope to shoot less than 200 yards.
I like my higher priced scopes for tracking then glass. Tracking is number one in my book. If you don't have tracking what's the point of the nice glass. With tracking, at least you know when you make an adjustment it's going to move correctly.

Whats the point of tracking if you can't see it it clearly.First rule of hunting/shooting is n are sure you can see what you are going to shoot. No need to pull trigger on what you can't see it.
I'd say good clear glass 1st, tracking 2nd.But all are equally important in target shooting. In hunting If the 1st shot placement is good there is no need to worry about tracking .
That's my opinion anyway
