Have heard that this target bullet can be used for hunting and that some use it for elk. Have loaded for my 300 Win mag and they are accurate but Ive never shot an animal with them. My load leaves the muzzle at 2800 fps. I ve booked an aoudad hunt in early Feb and considering using them for it as ive heard they are tough. Shot distance expected to be 100-250 yds. Have any of you used this projectile for hunting and on what animal and distance? How did it do with respect to terminal performance?

Shot a mule deer buck at 250 yards this year with my 300 prc. Muzzle velocity was 2860 fps and deer was DRT. They are lethal and proven from lots of people. However if you don't have a decent supply be cautious as they are almost non existent

I have had outstanding results with the 215 on Deer, Elk, and Antelope. Most of my shots have been 680 and in. .308 entrance wound, golf ball to tennis ball size exit. As with any bullet, shot placement is key. And with bergers make sure the tips aren`t plugged. I use a pin drill to make sure they are clean. I only use bergers anymore. my .02

I took a paper clip to make sure the tips open. Have you shot a tough animal like an aoudad? Have you shot anything at 100 yds and had good terminal results?

400 yards, elk. Almost a vertical shot down off a cliff. I Hit high, he was dead but tried to stand up when I got down to him and I basically took his head off his spine at 50 yards. It was on Halloween so it seemed fitting to name the bull nearly headless Nick. 215 Bergers are a great bullet for big game.
30/28Nosler @3100fps. As @Jakeweb09 said, unless you have a stockpile, you may want to look at other options. For More than a year they've been pretty well non-existent.

No Aoudad experience, But could they really be that much tougher than a mature bull elk? Just asking because I don`t know. The closest shot I have had with the 215s was about 250 on a big cow elk. Classic berger performance. DRT
