Looking for pass through

to be the odd one out here…I know all the monos and bonded bullets would do what you want with velocity and high bc, as every one has said.

You say your shots are 350 and in? Just for fun and nostalgia and the sake of historical accuracy with a historical cartridge, load up some old school 160 round noses of some kind. I bet they exit and kill much better than paper ballistics say they should…

Barnes Tipped Triple Shock Bullets....best penetrating round on the market. I will stipulate that I have yet to try the Hammer Bullets, but I expect with their design, they would perform similar to the Barnes. All the best, sir.

My broadside shots at 350 yards or less I have almost always had total penetration, and instant kills using Berger 140HVLD's, and surely with the Berger 156 EOL's at 2950-3000FPS both…. bullets in my 6.5x284.

Just because no one has mentioned them yet…a well placed Scenar is nasty on game. I love them. I cut a 6.5 saum to 16" and pushed that little 123 to 3060fps, high shoulders won't exit but they don't go anywhere either. A soft tissue shot will be silver dollar to fist size exits. It was impressive enough one of my good friends talked me out of that rifle. I need to build another one.

You mentioned something possibly in a cup and core less than 140 gr to keep impact velocity up ….. take a look at the 130 gr Nosler AB or the same weight in a Swift Sirocco …. They ll shoot plenty fast in a 6.5 Swede and will leave a hole on both sides!

Yes , mono's light weight and speed , speed , speed ! Ask Mr. Bean he is very helpful and will probably give you the powder types to start testing !

With all due respect, SST's are a joke or the marketing is crap. I've seen several blown up. Maybe under 2400 fps they could work.

ELD-X should work going through ribs.

I believe Accubond or something like Federal Terminal Ascent.

I suspect you are recommending the plain Accubonds, not the Accubond Long Range flavor. In my experience the AB's outperform the ABLR's on the business end.

I know these examples are much bigger animals than whitetails so take it for what it is. I've shot mule deer, mountain goat and elk with a 6.5 130 Scirocco (bonded). All passed through. None left a blood trail. The elk went the furthest, about 80 yards with no trail at all. The goat went 30 yards and the deer was DRT.

This year I shot an antelope and elk with the 156 Berger. Both were 350 yards and both passed through. The bullet hit the off shoulder blade on the antelope and broke the spine. It dropped in it's tracks but was not completely dead when we got there 10 mins later. It wasn't going anywhere. If it did there would have been an extensive blood trail.

The elk entered between the ribs and had two exits between the off ribs with two holes in both lungs. I'm guessing it shed the jacket since one hole looked like a sideways bullet. The elk went about 60 yards and when it turned sideways before falling it had blood down it's side. I went to where it was hit and walked to where it fell and there was zero blood trail.

What I'm trying to get it as just because it exits doesn't mean it will leave a trail. I suspect they would have left a trail if they went a lot further but, if they're hit well, they'll be down before the trail is necessary.

If you are worried about not leaving a blood trail move your shot placement. The one place that i was taught is straight up front leg about 2/3 of the way up the body. Very little meat damage and it will be DRT. You take out either both shoulders or one shoulder and spine.

I have been shooting the Norma Alaska 156 grain bullets and have had good luck with these. Killed a 300 pound boar hog in Texas a few years ago and it dropped dead and did not twitch. I have shot deer with these and the same results, dropped in their tracks. I know this is a big round-nosed bullet but it has been very effective for me in my Tikka T3 6.5x55. I was shooting the old Winchester 140 grain (silver box) ammo and these were not expanding at all, so sold all of these.

I almost went with the Barnes TTSX bullets until I found a large stash of the Norma Alaska ammo.

Barnes 130gr TSX. I shoot 260Rem and have pass throughs regularly with that Barnes amd Swift Sirocco IIs @130gr. From big Wildsau and Rotwild in Germany at close range to 400m and white tails and muleys at the same distances.
