Congratulations on your nieces success. There's always a trail of mentors who've made her success a reality. I trained my adopted son and now he's training his, and that allows me to share your pride in the success of your niece. My grandson is 9 as well; got his first gun, a 243, and with it has taken a nice Blacktail and was lucky enough (as the result of some hard hunting with his dad) to take a 5 point bull elk. Hopefully both your niece and my grandson are hooked for life on this wonderful thing we call hunting.

Nine year old?!! I don't believe that deer is anywhere near nine years old.
Please tell your niece I said congratulations on an excellent buck. I greatly respect her decision to wait until she got the right one. That is tough to do. Especially at that age. Kudos to her!
