Leupold reticle getting hairy

I've seen it a few times, but never in my own scopes until today.
The short of it is that the reticle is beginning to spread outward with what appears to be bleeding paint or jagged edges where it should be razor sharp.

scope: VX6HD 3-18x50 firedot duplex ret

The scope was purchased new in spring of 2019.
It has been safe bound for two years on a rifle that just sold. Having taken delivery of a new shorty 308, it found a new home. Although I noticed it two weeks ago when I first shot the new shorty, it became an annoyance yesterday during load development.
I know others have had the same issue. I am asking what was the cause and resolution?

Where is the problem? Hard for me to tell in the pic but maybe others will see it....and I'm still in my first cup of coffee. I'm very interested and following this thread as I have a few of the new HD line of their scopes in VX6HD and VX5HD

Zoom in. It's there. The distortion is obvious. Have another cup…😂

I spoke a little too soon.
VX5HD 3-15X56
VXR 4-12X50
Zoom in if you need to, but the distortion is there.
this only appears on my Leupold scopes.

Contact Leupold, being that it's a VX6 they should fix it or replace the scope free of charge. I had an older VX6 that broke (erector spring) after many years of use. The technician told me that with VX6 scopes if they can't fix it they will replace it. They fixed the scope and also upgraded the turret to a zero lock for free.

Yeah, that's my only choice. the issue is that it's several scopes from them.
ive been brand loyal for some time now, since the mid 90s. This seems like an odd coincidence that its in three scopes. I haven't checked the rest, 19 more, out of fear 😂

Sorry, I didn't catch that that it was an issue with all three scopes. Wow, crazy strange that it happened to three at the same time. Huge bummer! Makes me want to check all of my Leupolds. I would call them when they open today.

Oh god. Aside from the obvious laughing because I remember that episode, that's a terrifying thought.
Yeah it's the first thing that crossed my sick mind lol. I can't remember if those optics are wired or etched glass. But it's possible something is bleeding off of it. You know the deal, let Leupold take care of it. I'm sure they will.

All three got it at the same time?

Well, sound like my family.

All three of us got it at the same thing.

It's called Corona.
I hear it's all the rage these days.

😄 Matthias

PS: I hope you can figure out what's going on with your scopes without too much of a hassle. Just like you I'd be scared to check the other Leupolds now.... All the best to you! 👍🏼
