6.5 PRC, N565 OR H1000 that is the question

RL-26. A buddy of mine has run them all. RL-26 is at least 100 ft/sec faster than H1000 and temp stable. With H1000 he started getting a sticky bolt with 147's at 2950. He's running 156's at 3050 with RL-26. 24 inch barrel
Interesting. I have had the opposite experience for temp stability. Once temps hit 85F or so, R26 spikes in velocity. H1000 has not had that issue for me, even up to 95F ambient.

To the OP: seriously both N565 and H1000 are fantastic powders for 6.5PRC. As you have experienced, you cannot really go wrong with either.

X2. I have had the same experience. Velocity with H1000 in 90+ degrees is pretty much the same as 60 degree weather. Haven't tested H1000 in colder temps

Ditto. Same thing H1000 pretty much king

I have a new 6.5PRC with 24'' barrel shooting lights out with both H1000 and N565. My question to the LRH members. What powder is better? My groups are about the same, my ES is the same. I can get a little more speed with the N565, but happy with 3k FPS shooting a 156 Berger. I will be using the rifle for hunting so temp and elevation differences will be a concern.
I have plenty of both, so its not a what ever I can get issue. Not sure, so figured I would ask.
Thanks for any advice.
Shoot the one for hunting you have more of, use the other as a backup. Its great to have 2 loads with 2 powders to rely on. I have been doing the same thing with H1000 and IMR7977. If you have equal amounts toss a coin and go practice. Both are modern very temp insensitive powders. You'll have more pressure issues with cases not sizing correctly.

Interesting indeed! I've been loading RL-26 for about every bullet I've tried and had extremely good performance from a Christensen MPR in 6.5 PRC. So far the winner for me has been the 140 gr. ELD-M, .248" for five rounds @100 yes. ES=8.8, SD=3.3. Temperature sensitivity has been minimal, from 65°F to 96°F. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I surely like that rifle with that load. Just my two cents.

Only issue I've had, been using rl26 for 5 years, is pushing hard on max loads in winter development and hitting 90 plus temps in the summer and hot chambers.

10-4 on that. I've heard from several shooting buddies that they've had the same temperature issues. I can't explain it, but it hasn't bit me yet. Please take notice of "yet"! Good shooting gentlemen.

Nice thing about h1000 is it has a pretty low burn temp so it'll help with barrel life. The vhit 500 series burn somewhat hot in comparison. But both powders are great. I'd roll with h1000 until you run out then use vv565 as a replacement if necessary
