27 nosler vs 270 wby

As stated in the past, the lighter 130-140 class bullets perform great and heavier .277 bullets aren't necessary. I use the 130s in my .270 and they perform very well out to 600 yards. For extending that range of course I'd use a bullet with less drag and maybe in the 140 class weight.
The 170 Berger is fantastic in a .277, running in a .270 Sherman it is right with the 180 Berger in a 7 mag, but the 140 Badlands is way above any other bullet in the 140 class as far as bc goes.

Do you think a 27 nosler will push a 140 sb2 at 3400? I've noticed the bearing surfaces on the few different bd2 I have to be quite long for weight class. The solids don't squeeze to barrel like a cup/core and likely will run quite a bit slower than equal weight cup/core. For comparison the 195 bd2 pressured out 30fps slower than 215 Hyb did in my 300 norma improved. It was longer with more bearing surface than the 230 hyb.

Recently finished this AnTi in 270 Wby. Have had good luck with 165, 150 Noslers and 145 Hammers. Have two custom 27 Noslers running 156 Hammers and 175 Matrix and 165 Noslers.

Don't over look the 270 WBY as a varmint caliber, just load those cases up with 85gr or 95gr TSX's
or 90gr Speer or Sierra's and 78gr of RL17 and they exit my 30" 11 twist at over 4250 FPS.

Nosler has load data listed with a 140 nearly hitting 3500 fps, so I figured 3400 would be attainable in some circumstances, similar to a 180 in a 28 Nosler, I have seen people get faster, but I have also seen many not be able to get quite that fast.....

Nice, bud. Tell me about your custom Nosler's. Are they throated longer than standard reamers? Mind sharing your load data for the 156 Hammers?

My gunsmith throated 156 Hammers OCL to 3.46, 165 ABLR OCL to 3.52 and 145 ELD -x to 3.40. He recommended start loads @ - .20 . I am still in break in and early load development. My vintage 270 Wby shoots 145 Hammer shocks the best. Thanks for asking.

Thanks for the reply. I'd be glad to hear about what kind of velocities you're seeing from the 156 HH when you have some info.

I will follow up with this but going to be awhile our range shut down for fire 🔥 danger. I also refer back to this old post on occasion to re read some of Trm82s stuff; he has been very helpful for a couple of my projects.
