I have an old Savage 110 in 25-06. I am wanting to convert it to an AI. Should i just have a Smith Stick a Reamer in it or Get a whole new Barrel?

thanks, Fed-Well

I would opt for a new barrel. The switch is a lot easier to do than reaming an existing barrel out and if by chance you get poor barrel, you always have the old barrel to fall back on. Plus with a new barrel you can even change calibers if you so choose. I took my old Savage 110C from a 30-06 to a 280AI and now may switch it back to the '06 to use Hammer bullets.

Kimber 84m Classic 6.5 Creedmoor
124 HH, 22" barrel, Nosler Brass,
Fed 210 GM primer, COAL 2.796"-.083" jump, 43.8 gr H4350, 2900 FPS, Lee Crimp die 1/4 turn in from hand tight gives 0.4" group

204 Ruger
31 gr HH
26" T/C custom shop full bull 1:12"
New Norma brass neck tension set at .002"
Fed 205M
COAL 2.26" (.020" from jam)
IMR 8208 XBR
27.7 gr
4079 fps ES 18 SD 7 Grp .226" @ 100

I decided to start load development on this bullet with seating depth for a change and selected a suitable powder and split the difference between Hodgdon's starting and max charge for Berger's 30 grain FB. Things could not have gone better with all test loads (-.010" through -.050") putting three shots insider 1/2 moa. Steve and Brian hit a home run on this bullet as yet another sub 1/4 moa load developed in 15 shots or less. It is not like me to walk away with more speed sitting on the table, but its time to let the red mist fly and of course, order more bullets.

Great results! This also gives me a place to work towards since I recently got some of the same bullets for my T/C .204 Ruger. :D
