Big hunting trips

This one is big for me... headed to Colorado for a DIY Public land Elk hunt on an OTC Tag. This will be my second time. Big road trip for me... over 2000 miles each way. Backpacking into a wilderness area... no ATV access. Cant wait!
I have a 5 year plan to do an Alaskan Caribou hunt... that will be my BIG one

Coues deer in Mexico in February and Blacktails on Kodiak next August
I can't wait for these hunts!
Also doing a horseback antelope hunt here in Wyoming this October with 2 buddies which should be fun

If you don't mind me asking, have you hunted Coues before and who are you hunting with in February?

I had three trips lined up for New Mexico; antelope, elk and then mule deer. However, due to a herniated disc and impending surgery in a couple of weeks the antelope hunt got cancelled. Hoping the recovery goes well and I can make the other two.
That sucks New Mexico antelope is definitely on our short list for things to do sooner than later!

Hunting in Mexico would be a bucket list thing for me the wife says no way absolutely no way to unstable and dangerous if you wanted there in years past how is it as far as getting through the border and all of that jazz while you're on the ranch

That's part of it! Everyone starts some where! That's awesome what state are you heading too. Why that state? Big for me used to be hunting a new state or a unit I had never been in before. I think we all remember those hunts and for some of us it still is big hunt.
Very true, l agree!! Every hunt in a way is a big deal to me. From chasing hogs with the dogs every week to going to the other islands to hunt deer and sheep to going to the states for elk, et c to another country for exotic big game. Being able to hunt at all is a big deal lol

I wish everyone a great and safe hunt wherever the call of the hunt may take you.

Aloha!!!

As big as it gets for me. Archery elk hunt with my son and grandson this Sept. Then as soon as we can get things picked up and rearranged we will get set up for a rifle elk hunt that will start the middle of October. My son, grandson, son in law and daughter will all join us on this trip. Not all will have tags for this hunt but at least will be in camp. Then my wife has a cow elk tag for the month of November. Yes you guessed it. We love to hunt elk. Good luck to all on your hunting trips and be safe.

This is what it's about!

I have my annual archery elk and bear hunt in CO. I get there a week and a half early and live in the mountains in a tent just being happy. One of my hunting buddies gets there the same time so we scout, shoot our bows and just take it easy before the season. My goal is to get to pack his elk out. He has had a few dry seasons and I really want him to get one. Every year he says this may be the last year he can hunt. He is as good a hunting buddy as you could ever ask for.

I'd like to shoot an axis deer in Hawaii sometime. Coastal brown bear and arctic grizzly are also on a want to do list. Fortunate to have killed caribou, moose, bighorn, mtn goat, black bear, whitetail, mule deer, antelope, elk, on my own over the years. Pretty content to hunt upland game with my drahthaars these days, or any hunt that includes my adult kids.

I did buy some KS ground and getting to hunt KS for a solid whitetail will happen this fall. Good luck to everyone on their big hunts they have planned. Do them while in good health.
