I've got a 2500 acre lease in the Texas Hill Country that has seen a big increase in Aoudad in just the last couple of years. I can judge Whitetails, Axis, etc. but have zero experience with Aoudad. I have some movies of some from a game camera but can't seem to load on this page. I can text them if someone wouldn't mind taking a look to let me know if any are shooters.

Thanks!

Just let Jill & I come visit this leased land and we will be sure to tell you what to shoot. No Professional judging fees charged-just want a hunt for ourselves!!! I am sure from being on those NAVY ships all those years clouded you spotting judgement (nothing to see at sea). Let a Marine come over and help you.
HA HA!

Sent you pics of two of the older ones.

Whatever you do, DO NOT EAT THE MEAT. It looks like prime rib and tastes like the worst food you've ever had x 100.
Heck I always thought that it tasted like "Chicken" . All kidding aside these animals don't taste well? I would think being in the "Sheep" family or like goats wouldn't be bad eating. wonder WHY?? We eats goats and sheep and great tasting if prepared and cooked properly.
Thanks for the heads up!

I always ate the meat of any animal I've killed including several aoudad rams and ewes. It had a game taste but nothing horrible. We soaked the meat in salt water brine overnight, cut into smaller pcs, then on ice for 8 days, pat dry and soaked in a vinegar salt and pepper mix for 2 days and open fire grilled with red potatoes and cole slaw. It's wasn't a prime rib but I'm looking forward to eating it again someday. I guess it's the prep and cooking style that makes all the difference. Good luck with your hunt brother!!

I don't know why. Suspect the diet and genetics. You can try it if you like but have something else ready to eat.

Judge them for what? Kill them all...they'll tear up your feeders and chase your whitetails off. Invite all your friends over and shoot every one of the Iranian bastages!

Axis all around us and these darn things move in instead!

They are amazingly difficult to judge. I've held to that made 37" and they were the exact same shape as most 30 inchers…just bigger, obviously, but you can't tell that unless they are standing right next two each other.
My advice is to go off body size. A mature ram looks like he could eat the ewes…just big

Sounds like the old joke about grilling "mystery meat" on a ceder plank and then tossing the "meat' and eating th plank. LOL
