7mmSTW vs 7mm remington ultra mag

I don't dispute that but IMO It's a minimal gain for the work and money involved and the powder consumption in the RUM

Was just stating facts & not trying to minimalize the 7STW , when I look to working with high performance cartridges, powder consumption is never questioned, the minimal gain argument in the 7RUM vs 7mm STW is always presented with factory rifles/ammo and conventional bullets, when "doin a 7mm RUM right" you'd use 30" plus barrels twisted for 195-197 gr bullets and run with correct powders

if building both "right" from the ground up, cost will be same other than minor dollar difference in brass & powder expenses but there will be a considerable performance margin in favor of the 7mm RUM

Would be a pretty boring world if we all shot the same rifle with the same barrel and action and trigger and same bullet with the same powder . This is what i love about this all i think my 308 is sexy as hell the next guy might think its ugly as ####

I agree with everyting you said, I'm just always in the mind set of a hunting rifle where a 30" tube isn't practical for me

Well now youve opened a new can of beans. lol
If you like 190s, longer barrels, and velocity, have you ever tried them in a 300 Norma?
Or the 300 Ultra?

Ya, I may have done did (ha) but the subject at hand here is 7mm STW & 7mm RUM, otherwise I'd have brought up the better cartridge IMO, the 7mm NM Imp,

I really don't want to get yelled at by Butterbean, lol

@Swamplord funny thing though apparently when I say basically the same thing and never bash either round in fact called them both awesome just should built right ,,, I'm an instant keyboard warrior 🤷‍♂️who wouldn't know a thing about rifles or how too Build them ;) ;) ;) secretively I actually enjoy it 😁 😁 don't judge me

Your killing me, ............... I agree with you both you and @Elk Hunter 338 I meant no disrespect at all, As I said earlier I'm always in the mindset ( Hence My Opinion's ) of hunting rifles that I would carry, once again I meant no disrespect

well.... I have both and they are rather close; the 7rum will burn more powder (with a standard chamber) and return a bit more vel. at the same pressure. My current 7rum is a short throat... about .2" vs. .5" or so for factory and for all intents and purposes runs like a 7mmstw charge and vel. wise. Both my 7stw and 7rum are 8" twist bbl.s so I'm spinning rather hard; the 7run eats the 175 eld-x pushed by 50bmg and my 7stw is running either the 183 sierra with retumbo or the 140 ab and rl25. I need to play with seating depth a bit more on the 183 and run them over the Oehler again but both are running 3K to 3100 on a 180'ish... The 140 gr 7stw load is 3350 fps as of a couple hundred rounds back.

I'd go with whatever you can get a brass supply for and enough powder/bullets to feed and not look back...
I have both as well as 7mm dakota and 28 nosler. My favorite, 28 nosler, shooting 195 bergers at almost 3100. My rum is nice but doesnt group ad well. They are all gr8 calibers, not selling any.

I have a 28 nosler from Ryan Pierce. It's a laser with 195s. Getting 3160 after breaking in barrel and I've never seen a rifle lay em down as well. I call it the hammer. It's a tank though with a 5-25 atacr adding lots of weight, so i use my R Bros 7mm rem mag most of the time.
