I'm new to long range shooting, I'm looking for some idea's and recommendations on what targets to use at 700-1000 yards that show shot placement that is easier to see with spotting Scope.

In our Texas Hill Country we shoot at the white caliche rocks when dry. The dust print shows your shot and the wind. We challenge each other to go for the smallest rock. Another good thing that every shot is different. Locate it, range it, make the shot.
I think magnetospeed makes a target indicator that flashes when you hit the steel target the range I go to uses them on their 1200y ipsec plates. Also if you dont live in a dry climate where you can see the dust kick up the reality is you have to group on cardboard or paper at least out to 500y so you can understand what the bullet is doing, that's just part of learning. I started long range shooting in southeast GA with all the humidity and tall grass- nightmare! Even after getting on paper out to 500y I still couldn't hit the 750y plate. Here in Co springs it's much easier... Bottom line is open up a cardboard box and see where the bullet is actually going. They don't always go where the chart says- and don't underestimate the WIND!
AR 500 steel and white primer. At all my distances out to 1,000 I have 12x12 inch AR500 with white primer. 800 plus yards is 20x20 inch plate. Think AR400 would work as well. I can easily see where I hit with a 20 power scope.

Thanks for the information it sounds to be very helpful, where can you pick up AR400?
I get it from the local metal shops. I used to get scrap pieces and cut them myself. Now I get a sheet or half sheet and still cut myself. They will cut whatever size you want but they charge Per cut. I have A cutting torch to cut them out and cut two holes for chains. Plasma cutter works great and that's what the shops use. You will need either the plasma cutter or torch to cut AR400/500. One Of the shops around makes targets very reasonably and I picked up two cut out coyotes for the range from them. My girls love shooting them.

When all else fails go to Amazon.com and look for "steel targets". Then look for AR500 targets. Don't grab the first one they list. There are all sizes and shapes so look around.
