Hammer Hunter in 308

Agreed you definitely don't want to cross up Absolute vs Hammer Hunters. Double check those boxes. Excellent point jgs.

I shoot around 44gr of Varget with the 152HH in my 20" barreled 308 BLR. Velocity isn't impressive, ~2625fps. Accuracy is consistently right around 1", sometimes .75". This gun never shot better than 1.5" @100 until I found this combo. And those were the good groups. For a <250yd deer rifle, I'm very pleased.

So are you telling me that a 152 grain hammer would or should be loaded like a light 130'ish grain bullet? I am very new to reloading and want to limit my purchases of material right now due to the current circumstances and lack of inventory.

im not sure if asking for others recipes for loading is a no-no because they have their own secret sauce that took a lot of time and development so please forgive me if it is. I'm just trying to limit my expenses and learning curve right now
For the Absolute this is correct for the HH's look at the the 140g info for a reference point

No the 152 is the standard Hammer Hunters, the 151 is the AH. All the AH style bullets require faster burn rate powders like lighter style bullets. Or they won't achieve absolute status and just basically match what the normal Hammer Hunters do. These guys have 30 pages of data for you on here, just do a search on Absolute Hammers and you'll find it. Good info!!
The HH's also require a faster powder and more of it, just not as pronounced as the AH's

Yep. 30-06 with 137 HH I ran into the start of flat primers at 55.5gr of H4895 running 3262FPS. Backed down to 54.6 at 3215avg, still fine tuning because well I got time before hunting season. Gonna shoot these this year and this hunting season. Out running my 7RM at the moment. Might go to the 124gr next year since Bean seems to be hammering that point.
Don't have as good a powder selection for the 7RM and 131 HH and I'm fiddling with it to see if I can get rolling how I want with these light bullets and may just have to wait for more powder selection to be available.

Good luck with the 308.

You'll love the 124's
