Sig Kilo 2400 ABS input

Hey guys,

Opinions on if this unit is still a worthwhile purchase? I feel like this or one of the G7 models seem most appropriate for a ballistics solving rangefinder.

I know the Kilo 2400 ABS was quite popular with great reviews when it was introduced, but it has been a few years and while I'm sure it is still a great unit, just wondering if it is worth waiting for the next best thing. I'm not in any rush.

Main use will be hunting and shooting. I likely won't be shooting at game beyond 700 unless great conditions (with my current ability and rifle setup), but I would like to ring steel out to 1000, etc.

Also, would you guys with experience consider this a good solution over a kestrel and an app? Or do you use them together? Any input or advice is appreciated. Thanks

I like mine . it seems to do what is needed . I'll say it ranges 100% out to 1400 or 1500 yards . a couple times it struggled at 1600 yards . I've had it range at 2050 . it never ranged at 2375 . it's small ,light weight , ranges fast , instantly gives your correction . it's a nice unit out to the distances it will range .

I definitely like the idea of one stand alone unit in a hunting situation, instead of having to toggle multiple inputs from different devices. 1400-1500 yards will always be plenty for me. Thanks

I think the Kilo 2400 ABS has been discontinued but you may find some still in stock somewhere. Its fast and accurate. I've used a G7 for years now and its nice because its a single, although bulky for a monocular, device solution out the crazy long ranges. It has also been discontinued. You might find a used one somewhere. Mine has killed a pile of Coues bucks, elk and antelope. The Kilo 2400 BDX is still in production and does everything the ABS does. I have used a Kilo 2200 BDX and compared it to my G7. They matched out to the 800 yard Kilo limit, I assume the 2400 would be similar and gives you the ability to extend the 800 yard limit with a Kestrel. Supposedly Gunwerks is working on a G7 replacement but I haven't seen anything yet. I would guess they are stepping into the ranging bino race. The new Vortex bino with internal ballistics looks really really good. Its about the same street price and the last version of the G7 was, $1500ish range.

I just spoke with Sig Customer service to address some of those concerns. They mentioned the 2400 ABS is slowly getting phased out with the new BDX line. That being said, the ABS is more of a single solution, where like you said the BDX works to about 800 yards, but then pairs with a kestrel for further solutions.

I like the idea of having one unit to do it all which is where the ABS appeals to be me more.

Looks like the Optics zone has some ABSs.

This all stems from me being able to pick up a used for for around $800

I've been using one for years for hunting (mostly coyotes), and I love it. As mentioned they don't range well past 1500 yards, but if you don't need it to then who cares...lol.

No need for Kestrel or any other device, unless you want accurate wind, but I haven't cared. You can input wind manually...and I usually just leave it at 10mph for a base and adjust from there. They are a single unit solution (minus the binocular function) and they work great. That being said, they are getting phased out because now Binoculars are being developed and released with the same technology which is the ultimate solution.

I would definitely purchase a 2400 if you can find one at a heavy discount. But I would also recommend to start looking at the binos with the same functionality.

I always carry mine with me whether at the range or hunting. Quick and easy to use. Great in a situtation where you need a quick holdover while hunting. I still use it though in connection with Strelok Pro on my phone.

So the kilo 2400 abs works well with StrelokPro? I already use that app quite a bit

The kilo is great for a quick range and holdover reading (when you don't have time to use SPro) when hunting.
At the range or if I am hunting to a known distance, I use the kilo to range and then plug the distance into SPro where I can run some wind variables or adjust velocity based on impacts.

I'd be using it as a ballistics solver though, so hopefully to not have to utilize my strelok pro ideally, assuming all my trajectory's and drags/environmental data is correct.

It will obviously work as a ballistic solver but I guess what I am saying is it is a bit more clunky to use by itself when you are using the kilo app to make changes (wind, environmental, velocity) and then sync to the unit itself.

I use my 2400 ABS as a stand alone , it uses applied ballistics . if it will range it , it gives the correction . I have a gen 1 , G7BR2 . I think it stops giving a correction at 1400 . I've never taken it along to our long range place to see how far it will range . I think it's rated to 2000 .

there is a guy on here @loghome , that found these at a decent price a week or so ago .
